Review summary

The "Island Princess" was a beautiful ship - loved the library, the sitting areas, the dining rooms, the atrium. Everything was maintained well and generally everything was clean. My husband did say one restroom he used was not clean, but that was the only negative.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We particularly liked the anytime dining option, one of the reasons we chose Princess. We had the option to sit with others or by ourselves. We met some lovely people, and the ones that were not so lovely, we didn't have to eat with again! The food was very good and the variety was also good. We usually went to the buffet for lunch because my husband got addicted to one of the pastries (a crust with a custard and fresh fruit). All the staff were very attentive.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the 4 shows we went to. The Island singers and dancers put on wonderful shows. The quality was far beyond what we expected. The cruise director was very entertaining!

Service and Staff

Our steward was also very attentive. Never had to look very far for him if we had a need. He made sure we knew when he was available.

Cabin / Stateroom

We loved our room. We opted for a handicap because my husband had recent hip surgery, so the bathroom was especially nice for him. We loved our balcony!

Ports of call

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We enjoyed Skagway the most. We went on the summit drive to the Yukon, which included the suspension bridge and the salmon bake at Liarsville.
Don't Miss: Just walking around town!

Juneau, Alaska

The Mendenhall glacier was a highlight. We also went on the Mt Roberts Tramway. We took the shorter hike up there, and it was so beautiful.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We only went to the lumbarjack show. It was very good (better than expected) and the venue was nice because it was cold and wet and we were kept warm and covered.

Pros: We had a very good experience from all aspects. Our room, the food, the entertainment all were a part of the whole experience, but we really did enjoy the relaxation and the break from "reality" the most.

Cons: Being the end of the season, the weather was not the best, but thats not your fault!
