Review summary
Whilst there were certainly issues we would cruise again with p and o, though perhaps not Iona. We enjoyed the ports but for us the food and general ambience was lacking.Embarkation
Was given an embarkation time of 1.30- very smooth process with lots of staff on the desks.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
Food was dreadful really. Lukewarm on most occasions in all venues, the only venues which served hot fresh food was the quays and the pizza place in the skydome. Veg was repetitive- green beans every meal. Not enough choice in the buffet.
Onboard Activities
We were off most days- seemed to be a few scheduled activities but not as much as other lines such as Royal.
Entertainment
Difficult to rate- the entertainment ww did see was good- in the theatre. The singers in the skydome- was a shame about the acoustics because they were great singers. Same comedian on for most of the week. The skydome shows were "interesting".
Service and Staff
All staff we were served by were friendly and helpful. Dominic in the emerald bar deserves a special mention.
Ship Quality
Iona is an absolute beauty make no mistake. There was not enough cleaning going on though- overflowing toilets, toilets out of action. Plates and cups not cleared away quickly and dirty plates in the skydome pizza place.
Cabin / Stateroom
Good lay out, fantastic size bathroom and amazingly comfortable beds.
Ship tip
Go with an open mind, its a work in progress. We would go again at the right price.
