Review summary

We were due to do the maiden voyage on Arvia (14 nights) which was cancelled, and rather than waste my partner and my leave, we looked for a cruise within the same time frame, this one fitted (7 nights), even though we had been to some of these ports before but not this time of year.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Using the per embarkation, this did mean we ran through a bit quicker than normal, but had to redo photo and passport details as this did not transfer over for some reason.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We've been cruising for many years now, with the new freedom dining the food is not as good, some of the meals have gone, prawn cocktail for starter is no longer available every evening, it is a bit more of a pain with those with dietary requirements, and you're unable to get that rapport with dining staff.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Again lots of activities for sea days, but this could have been due to the time of year, no sun bathing.....

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Good range of different shows, Inc the skydome's stage, with circus kind of acts.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Great service, but sometimes this depends where you are, we had two issues, lunchtime in the horizon restaurant with had no drinks waiter, and on the chiefs table dining night we had to wait an hour before food, which when we were the first in line and tables that came in after us were getting their food did not help this service.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Always clean, in most areas, only one area we noticed that was an issue, the corridor we were on with room service trays being left out for collection all the time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

Ports of call

Hamburg, Germany

4 out of 5
Enjoyed this port for this time of year with the Christmas market.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

4 out of 5
Short shuttle bus to town, not much there, but again this time of year there is a market but if you didn't know where it is you would miss it.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Again, quick and easy.
