Review summary

We loved every minute of our cruise. Embarkation was easy. The ship is fantastic, the food is varied and all very good with the exception of the beach house. Entertainment was good, especially the daytime speaker. Ports were all fantastic. We couldn't have wished for a better cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very well organised. The queue for testing was organised well and once it started moving it was a very quick process. At the terminal the text messages of negative tests came fairly quickly enabling us to board Iona.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Main dining rooms were large without feeling crowed. The booking system worked well. The service and food was first class as always. The Olive Grove and the Keel and Cow are highly recommended. In fact everywhere you could eat the food was delicious.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did not partake in any of the onboard activities with the exception of walking around the prom deck.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were varied as usual. The comedian was not liked by us and going by comments heard from others was not liked by others. Disappointed there was on 2 separate shows from the headliners, although each was repeated 6 times to enable as many people as possible could see them. The guest speaker was Phil Campion, an ex SAS soldier. His experiences were fascinating

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was the same high standard we have come to expect from P&O.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Internally the design is fantastic, the bars and restaurants are great. Maybe the shopping area could have better designed. The promenade deck is great to walk road but, I would not book a cabin on the promenade deck. As you walk around the deck, you can see inside each cabin. Our cabin was 12257. It was next to an extended length balcony therefore the was no privacy. I loved the ship, however certain aspects are certainly not to my liking.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was a nice size. However the bed was so close to the wardrobes there was just space to open the doors. Therefore there was only space for one at the wardrobes. The bathroom was lovely with a nice roomy shower with a glass door. The room was kept clean by our steward who was very friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. The main problem was the balcony was overlooked by next door as the picture shows. I would not choose this cabin again.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We requested an early disembarkation time. We walked out of the ship at 7:55, collected our baggage and drove out of the car park at 8:13. Very successful disembarkation.

We cruised 14 nights on Iona 25th Sept, thoroughly enjoyed it. All the restaurants were first class with the exception of the Beach House, worst meal I've ever had at sea but I thought they'd corrected this with all the media complaints?
