Embarkation

When going through security, the older black lady told my son that he could not take his water. I explained that he was a type 1 diabetic and need to stay hydrated. She went to the computer and said "he's a diabetic". She never said another word to us, just left us standing there and only walked away. I know there are security measures in place; however, leaving guest just standing there and not saying another word is unacceptable. Communication is key and being friendly is not that difficult. We were not rude, only said he was a diabetic. Somehow this was a huge issue for her. Needless to say he threw the water away and bought more on the ship. We were not sure how long it would take to get on the ship; so, he brought his water.

Onboard Activities

Tuesday July 4th for bingo, the app said the start time was 3:15. However, we did not actually start unit 4:30 due to the long line of people buying cards. Of course you want a lot of people to buy cards/packets to make more money, but my suggestion would be to start selling cards earlier or make note of the actual start time.

Service and Staff

We had the pleasure of meeting 3 wonderful gentlemen. First, our room attendant, Walid, was absolutely amazing. We had 2 cabins. One for us and one for my boys. (9384 & 9386) Walid attend to every need. From the medical fridge for my son's insulin, the cases of water we order, to making sure I had ice in my room every day. He also opened the balcony divider between our rooms. These little touches made our trip so wonderful. We did not have to worry about anything. Thank you Walid!! Lastly, our waiter and assistant waiter, Venice and Ravindra were absolutely wonderful. We were at table 445. They made wonderful course suggestions each day. Making sure 2 teenage boys are feed and full is no easy task, but they succeeded. They also answered all of our questions about things other than our meals. It was so nice to meet and talk with Venice and Ravindra each night. We looked forward to dinner every night because of these 2 wonderful gentlemen. Thank you Venice and Ranvindra for such excellent service.

Ship Quality

The ship was very clean. My only suggestion would be to move the smoking section on deck 11. When you walk out the doors to the deck from the elevator you are met with the nasty smell of cigarette smoke. (The area next to Fish and Chips?)

Cabin / Stateroom

Excellent size and a lot of space for 2 people. The sofa was very comfortable. I only wish there was an ottoman for my feet. Walid did an excellent job ensuring it was always fresh and clean.

Ship tip

Enjoy yourself and forget about the little things. The staff will take care of everything!
