I found independence of the seas to be a great ship for families, especially those with teen kids. The shows were appropriate for all ages, magic, iceskating, dancing, etc. The ship had tons of kids, not necessarily places for romance for couples. Would cruise again with RCCL.

Traveling with a kid who wanted to eat at the buffets continuously, did not leave time for the main dining rooms. I only wished there were more options for dining that were not beef or pork in the Windjammer cafe. Some turkey options would have been great.

My kid enjoyed the Teen room, Fuel. He took advantage of all of the fun competitions, the rock-climbing wall, mini golf, basketball, and flowrider.

The ship was very clean, after activities at port, staff quickly cleaned up the sand and water

Once the beds were separated, there was sufficient room. The television did not work well there was a black spot in the middle of the screen. The safe was not working, but maintenance fixed it fairly quickly.
It is a great place for kids to enjoy lots of water activities. The snack shacks were abundent with short lines. Get there early to get a good seat with an umbrella
I cruised Independence in May, it was amazing. I was so scared when I booked because of the negative comments but decided that I needed to experience it myself and not rely on someone else’s opinion. I am glad I did.
I see Independence was caught is some kind of tropical storm, hope you and your fellow passengers and crew were safe. Been on several ships, Legend o the seas was our first and has a sentimental place in our hearts but Indi became our favourite, so disappointed when she was replaced by Anthem
