Review summary

Thought the independence was a perfect choice for our first cruise, not to big not to small. Food was great, enjoyed all the shows we went to. It got us hooked on cruises!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was quick and easy. We got there early and everything seemed to move along smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We really enjoyed the mdr. Tried some dishes we had never had before, some we liked and some we didn't, but overall the food was really good. Same goes for the buffet, although overcrowded at times which we were already expecting that. Although not all of the food we tried was to our liking, we were always able to find other food that was. We were far from hungry on this cruise.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Wife and daughter enjoyed the rock wall

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Ice show and grease were enjoyed by all. Wife and I enjoyed the magician, kids didn't want to go so we let them do their own thing.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My daughters are kind of antisocial so they didn't really participate in the teens activities. I think they probably missed out

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Hector the room steward, Christopher and ruhi (wait staff in mdr) were amazing. Majority of the other personnel were great.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Loved the ship. Overall the staff did a great job at trying to keep it clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
6305 and 6307. The wife wanted the Ben and Jerry "sweet" but we were disappointed that they had removed all of the cow decorations. We liked the location and the room was pretty quiet except for when the 70 and 80s parties were going on. Hector the room steward was awesome

Ship tip

Just go with it. Don't let setbacks ruin your vacation. We wanted to try ice skating but the compressor broke so instead we found a trivia game and still had fun as a family. If we felt a line was too long and we didn't want to wait, we would just find something else to enjoy

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We had fun at thrill Waterpark. The island was awesome.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
The new terminal was really nice. Outside the terminal was a circus, but since it was our first cruise we wanted to experience it at least once.

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Get a passport! Disembarkation was a breeze since we had ours. It only took about 20 min to go from the mdr waiting area thru the terminal pick up our luggage and make it to the car and get on the road..Again, get a passport!
