The cruise was enjoyable! I was ready to rebook the same cruise. The art auction was great. The jewelry selection at EFFY was great as well. There was always something to do.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
My sister and I both needed wheelchairs. We were serviced right away. The port helped and took us to the Royal Caribbean staff who took us through check-in and took us to the Bolero Lounge on the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was good. There was NEVER a long line to get food. There was great organization. The greeters were cheerful, polite and innovative in getting everyone entering the WindJammer to wash their hands with soap and water. This was orderly and excellent.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I wish that they had classes to learn to make decorative fruit carving, shapes of napkins, towels etc. The pools were very accessible. I wish there were Salsa classes etc., the latest dances or even ballroom dance lessons. I appreciated miniature golf, watching the flow rider etc. There were so many activities.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The ice-skating show was the best! The entertainment was great!
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
I did not note any service that was exceptional. The service is what you would normally expect. However, whoever was the manger of the dining room on level 3 was exceptional. Since I booked my cruise late, they only had my-time dining. I have glucose issues and can't wait long periods of time to eat. I waited 30 minutes the first day. The system used needed revamping. Different people were calling out your name. If you didn't hear it, you miss out. In all fiarness, I believe that this was Independence first returning voyage with probably a lot of new people. The most exceptional service that I have had in the past was on the Navigator of the Seas and the Allure.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I love all of the Royal Caribbean Ships that I have been on. The only one that I know that I will not go on again is the Jewel of the Seas unless it has a Promenade deck now.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was excellent. I loved the extra space and the balcony. I only wish that the stewart would have given us and extra bar of soap when it was small. There were two of us using 1 bar of soap from Monday through Friday. This would never be so in a hotel.
Ship tip
You are allowed to carry on a few bottles of unopened water and a bottle of ine 750 ml the first day. Be patient, come with great expectation and enjoy. I was surprised that no one was crowded around other people. It was great.Be patient and enjoy!
This port is convenient. I needed 2 wheel chairs which were immediately available. Port staff was excellent as well as the Royal Caribbean staff at the terminal. Oh, when I got on board, I realized that I really need a scooter. The staff tried to reach someone to see if there were some left so that I would not have to walk. Even though I had to walk anyone because he couldn't reach anyone, they sent me back by wheelchair since there were no more scooters. If you ever need a scooter for rental, always rent in advance.
The food had great presentation, but was not that great. The BBQ chicken was excellent and the grilled corn. We were not informed that there was a hand washing station on the Island as well. They had an abundance of lounge chairs and umbrellas.
Getting the tram from the ship was a long wait. People whowere able-bodied were waiting for the tram. Disabled people should have a prioirty! The port was too busy and crowded. The drivers and the street vendors were rude. I went to one diamond store and couldn't wait to get back to the ship! Going through customs in Nassau was easy, we just showed a picture ID and Seapass.
Both my sister and I have to have wheelchairs when we travel due to health conditions. We went to Bolero Lounge at 8 am and there were no wheelchairs. Eventually, one wheelchair at a time was available. There was no organization as to who came first or second etc. As I was waiting, I observed so many people disembarking with their own luggage. The lines were extremely long. They were trying their best.ons
