Review summary

Good spring break getaway with our high school age daughter. Not the best cruise we have taken, but it was a thousand times better that being at home.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Not bad, but our bus dropped us off during the peak of embarkation. We spent about 20 minutes in the hot Florida sun before we got through the doors of the terminal. Once inside though, things moved as smoothly as could be expected.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was good, but it didn''t "WOW" us. Our daughter is a vegetarian, and she was not impressed with the choices for the first day. However, they stepped up their game for her and she really liked the entrees the last two nights. We did not do any specialty dining, unless you count burgers & milkshakes at Johnny Rockets as specialty dining (They were very good).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
My wife & I are too old for the rock wall. My daughter did the water slide and said it was OK. She wanted to do the wave Rider, but it was always crowded when we were there. The CD was very talented at hosting the onboard activities like the nighttime & pool parties. He kept everything lively.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The ice skating show was unbelievable, considering it''s on a cruise ship.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Very good. Our waiter struggled at first with my daughters picky vegetarian tastes, but he got it down by the second day. The cabin steward was top notch.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
"Indy" is a very clean & well maintained ship. It''s laid out OK, but I found myself wishing it had an aft bank of elevators. They tried to make up for it by having more elevators in the forward & mid-ship banks, but it was constantly crowded and took a long time. My wife cannot climb stairs, so we just had to wait.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Can''t remember the cabin number but it was a port side deck 8 mid-ship balcony. Clean & comfortable. The only down side was our next door neighbor loudly played rap music with foul lyrics a couple times during the day. I don''t know if someone complained (we didn''t) but fortunately it was only for the first 2 days, and only for about an hour or so.

Ship tip

Be prepared to take the stairs, especially if you only need to go up or down one or two deck levels. You'll save a lot of time.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Flew in the day of the cruise.

Cozumel, Mexico

The port area was nice, but once you got outside it looked a bit "sketchy". We did a beach day at a beach/waterpark. It was a weird experience, for the sand at the oceans edge was like walking in quicksand. We never experienced that before. My wife has bad knees, so she really struggled getting in and out of the ocean. The food they offered was good if you ordered it from their pay menu. The buffet they included in the excursion's price was only so-so.

Disembarkation

Bit of a wait. Not much seating, but I found my wife a place to sit, so it was OK.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You were probably one of the last sailings before the shutdown. ⛴
