Review summary

Overall don't think I would sail with Royal Caribbean again, while they are fine in a lot of aspects I kept on comparing it to my last Princess cruise and they constantly fell short in terms of overall quality and guest attitude. The biggest reason I will not sail with them again is because of the incredibly hard beds, there is no point in paying several hundred dollars for a cruise only to be exhausted and cranky the whole time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy! We arrived in Ft.Lauderdale around 10-10:30 and were boarding the ship within 30 minutes!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Overall I everyone really enjoyed the food, it was hot and tasty. The only thing that was not perfect was how fast we were being served in the main dining room, we didn't mind a longer dinner as it gave everyone time to catch up and chat but if you were trying to get to a show on time you may have had trouble.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Activities seemed fun but we were deterred from doing much of anything because of the long lines. Took us 20 minutes to have 1 turn on the water slide.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Waiters and bar tenders on this ship were exceptional and never missed an opportunity to make us feel welcome and excited to visit them again. The room staff however left quite a bit to be desired, we would come back to our room and still have dirty cups and plates on the desk even though the beds were made up.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship design was fine except there are no aft elevators and this made it difficult for my grandmother to walk back and forth to our room as we had an aft balcony.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
The balcony was the main attraction to this cabin it was a big aft corner balcony with plenty of space and it definitely made the trip better. The room was on the small side but not uncomfortable for 3 people. As I was traveling with my mother and grandmother I was the one to sleep on the pull down bed and I have never slept so poorly in my life! The mattress was about an inch thick and then your hitting metal, I understand that these beds were likely made with kids in mind but that shouldn't mean that an adult should be uncomfortable! It was hard to enjoy my vacation overall because of how little sleep I got, I hope this is something Royal Caribbean works on in the future.

Ship tip

Even if your not sure your going to do an activity book it ahead of time anyway (if its free) as there are long lines for nearly everything

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
Smooth and easy embark and debark. We live in Florida so we didn't spend much time exploring the port overall.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
We had a fantastic ship excursion to the Mayan ruins and chocolate factory. Everyone we met was very kind and helpful. Only took one star off because some of the shop keepers were pushy but most would give up if you just said no thank you and kept on walking.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Even easer then embarkation! We carried our own bags down to the disembarkation lounge and immediately got off the ship, probably took about 10 minutes total to get to our car. However the paking lot we were parked in was jam packed with people who were trying to leave so we probably sat there for another 20 minutes.

You would have to sail Celebrity to get a fair comparison. Princess is upgraded Carnival and Celebrity is upgraded Royal Caribbean.

Awww, Royal does have hard bedding. You can request padding for your beds though. Which is what we did our first night of our Royal Caribbean cruise.
