Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We absolutely LOVED the main dining room for each night while cruising. The selections were well thought out, the quality was always excellent. But the best part was by far the service staff. These folks could not have made our dining experience any better! The dining room staff are so in tuned to the diners needs, almost before we even think about what we may need or want! We cannot say enough good about the main dining rooms! We are not buffet fans, but when we used the Windjammer for a few meals, the food was above average, selection was above average and plenty of it. Again, buffets are not our thing, but this delivered what we needed when we needed it. We did not dine in any of the specialty restaurants at all. But the menus looked great, the prices seemed as we expected and would have been pleasant I’m certain.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained all the time. Or if you need to just relax, plenty of space to chill and take advantage of the sea views. The fitness center was always busy, but plenty equipment to accommodate the crowds.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows were very enjoyable. The entertainers and talent were exceptional. Top notch entertainment for families, adults, etc.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I cannot say enough good about the room attendants, wait staff and random personnel. Our room attendant was unbelievably conscious of our comings and goings and kept our room pristine at all times. And the wait staff were superb in every way! I have no idea how the staff on a ship For extended periods of time can possibly always be eager and happy to provide passengers with the ultimate experience. These folks perform yeomen duties and never let anything ruffle them!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout and design were perfectly fine in our opinions. Common areas were always well maintained and clean. One issue we experienced was in the casino where I was surprised to not find a non-smoking area. Some machines have decals stating “no smoking” however, plenty cigarette smoke filled the air and being at one machine does not accommodate someone that may have allergies or dislike to cigarette smoke smells. And the ashtrays Were for the most part full and overflowing with cigarette butts. This was the only place on the entire ship that seemed unkept and dirty.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Perfectly satisfied with our cabin as far as comfort, size and cleanliness goes. For the amount of square footage, every inch is used to benefit what is needed for the amount of time spent in the room. Closet space, drawer space, cabinet space, floor space, all adequate for our needs.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
This was the port where we boarded the ship and it was perfectly fine. No excursions for us from here.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
Basically the ship staff are working on this private island. The port was very well maintained and looked lovely. This port has locals that bring in their wares to sell in a “market” type atmosphere beyond the one building were local Artisans offer their things. The outside area of this market consisted of a very aggressive group of people “hawking” and insisting you come into their space to “look” at their items. This was far too aggressive for me, made me uncomfortable and we basically just turned around and left this area. The beach is beautiful here, plenty beach chairs and whatever you need to relax beachside. The barbecue lunch provided was good. There was chicken, pork ribs and several sides to include salad, fruit and desserts. We did not participate in any excursions but everyone could enjoy watching the zip liners as they came across the ocean.

Falmouth, Jamaica

2 out of 5
Nice enough port, with the typical diamond and jewelry stores and a few American type fast food spots or Dairy Queen, Quiznos and Nathan’s Hot Dogs. This port also had a nice market building where locals brought their handmade items in to sell. Beyond the gates, be prepared to see very sparse conditions in Falmouth. We took a trolley tour around the town, very eye opening to see this small town and it’s people. Our tour guide on this trolley was so delightful and enjoyable. She made a sad situation for this small village seem far better than what most of us could have endured. Her name was Monique and was just lovely! We did not do any excursions outside of Falmouth.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Not much to say about disembarking. It takes time and effort and is just necessary.
