Review summary

We've cruised on many different cruise lines. This was our first time cruising with Royal Caribbean. I think Royal is my favorite now. Service and entertainment was great! We loved the dining experience. There was something for every age group. I only wish the visits to the island were longer.

Food and Dining

We ate at the specialty restaurant Chops. The meal was ok. The menu said a salted baked potato but it was a tiny plain potato. The steak melted in your mouth but I've had better flavor on my steak from Outback. I think the main dining area had better food. The buffet food was bland but the main dining area had better food.

Johnny Rockets

The burgers were fantastic. Lots of flavor...not like the burgers at the buffet. This place had the best soda too (from a fountain). Great service too! The chili was not good. Lot's of flavor but very watery. Onion rings and fries were great.

Sorrento's Pizza

The pizza was ok. It's what you expect for a free meal being feed to the masses. My kids loved eating here because it was open when they were ready to eat and no large lines.

Chop's Grille

The lobster bisque was more like a broth. The steak melted in your mouth but lacked seasoning. The salted baked potato was bland and did not have salt. The Cesar salad was really good. The shrimp cocktail was good. I would not pay extra to eat here. I think the food and service was better in the main dining rooms.

Onboard Activities

They have a lot of activities for any age. My son loved playing basket ball, arcade, rock climbing and the surfing. My daughter and friend did not have time to surf because the lines were to long. They did not ice skate either because they did not want to put on jeans and warm clothes for only a 30min session. My 15 year old daughter and friend were expecting more of a teen night club setting but it was just a bunch of teens hanging out. They had lots of games for the teens to play but my kids were not interested. I love that there are 3 pools. I would have cruised more with my kids when they were toddlers if there was a kids pool like this ship had. The adult area looked boring but relaxing. We thought the adult area would be up higher and away from kids but anyone can walk through. We hung out at the main pool. There were lots of fun activities and a live island band. On the last day the winds were to strong so they played crappy techno music that was more club scene then relaxing island music. This cruise was perfect besides the smoking they allowed on deck. Our room was on the side they allowed smoking... it seems we were always walking through the smoke. We could have walked further and walk out the other side but it was always too late. I finally caught on at the end of the trip. Also, the smoke coming out the casino filled the halls and floors around that area. By the end of the trip my throat felt raw. My kids and I are very sensitive to smoke and we all had coughing fits by the end of the trip. We loved all the shows! Great entertainment. They had movie nights but we always missed because we had late seating for dinner and we preferred to see the shows. Great movie selection.

The shows were great! My favorite part of the cruise.

Children's Programs

They had lots of options for all ages. My teenagers did not really care for them. They wanted a teen night club, dancing with DJ. However, they had areas that teens could "hang" out.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service is always amazing on a cruise ship!!! This cruise was no exception. Our room steward was always smiling and available. The waiters were the best!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is ready to go into refurbishment at the end of the month. However, everything was clean and updated. I could see some areas in the pool area that could be painted but nothing major. I was only looking because I knew the ship was being refurbished. They need to do something better with the smoke from the casinos. Also,

Wish we had more time. I don't know why we have to leave the island so early.

Precisely why ships should now be made totally smoke free. It is a health risk to breathe in second hand smoke, so I think that trumps any rights a smoker may have.
