Review summary

This trip was a rewarding experience to myself and wife who find ourselves working even when we are on vacation. We finally overcame that by going on this cruise where we had the freedom to enjoy each other's company in the comfort and splendor on board the Independence Of The Seas. We are already planning a family vacation in the not too distant future.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Our embarkation experience went quite smoothly, thanks to our Price line rep Jim who made sure all our paper work was done way ahead of time. We boarded in a reasonable time and went straight to our cabin put down our carry on and thereafter our unfolding experience was one we will always remember because it was our first cruise and we were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary followed by Valentine's day

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The ship's main dining and buffets were good but what I found was the servings in the main dining area especially for dinner were somewhat limited though I understand that the buffet was an added option, I did not care to visit both at the same time. The waiters and waitresses were excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Some of the activities we engaged in were the Broadway version of the movie Greece but my favourite was an hilarious show on Love and Marriage and the 60's and 70's musical entertainment in the Promenade area. We also did some duty free shopping on board, a bit of casino and some dancing on deck which was quite nice.

Jewelry Shop

4 out of 5

There was a nice array of costume jewellery and the staff at this venue were very helpful

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The stage shows were pretty good

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We were very pleased with our waiters and room steward who are hard working and dedicated. It was also a great opportunity to meet with such a diverse set of friendly people who stole a moment to make our cruise a rewarding experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We really liked the overall layout of the ship. The cleanliness was excellent and the captain's input about sanitizing as often as you can because the facilities are all over the ship was a plus.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were overwhelmed when we got to our cabin. All of the amenities were just perfect. Kudos to our cabin attendant Igusti who did an excellent job in making us very comfortable.

Ship tip

This is a beautiful and well maintained ship with a very hospitable staff and if you are afraid of the sea, you need not worry because when you are on board there is so much to do that you forget you are at sea.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
It is spacious and clean and the staff was very efficient.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
We did an excursion but the cost and overall experience was limited

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
This is a duty free port but we found that items were very expensive.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
While it was a bit time consuming and understandable. It was properly organized and went smoothly.
