Review summary

The stateroom was wonderful. the food excellent; however, the 2000+ drunken spring breakers nearly ruined the cruise for us. This was supposed to be a romantic getaway for us. Instead, the ship was taken over by the drunken spring breakers. It is truly a shame that we could not enjoy the amenities of the ship. One could not even enjoy the pool deck. No hope of trying the Rock Climbing Wall...  I would never have scheduled the cruise at this time had I known that we would have had to deal with the out of control spring breakers.

can any body tell me who the cruise director is on Independence

grandmarnnurse    7 years ago

wazbev--that is true. They do have just as much right to be there. But it's up to you when planning your cruise to avoid those times. The cruise line wants to make money, so of course they are all welcome. Think of all the money they earned on bar bills! As I previously said, I just avoid all school breaks, if possible, because if I don't, I only have myself to blame for poor planning, and not the cruise line. I say this all the time: an informed cruiser is a happier cruiser. Do your research before booking.

We were seriously pee'd off but Royal Caribbean weren't interested ."they had as much right to be there as us"!!!

i would be seriously pee'd off if i paid good money for a cruise and have to put up with that. Its a cruise ship no butlins

Let me add that college spring break is not always at the same time as grade/high school spring break. I avoid both. College break---too many drunks. Younger kids break--- too many kids over running the ship and the pools.

I avoid Spring Break always! If cruising with family with kids--I tell them to pull them out of school, cuz there's no way I want to cruise during a spring break! Crazy amount of drunks!

We always avoid college spring break! Made the mistake once. Now we pay attention to the calendars. Wouldn't say it ruined our trip but lines for drinks were quite long

Definitely have to watch early spring. All schools have different spring breaks. I don't think I would have liked that either

We went on Explorer , we had never heard of spring break coming from the UK . It was literally the cruise from hell . If this is the norm the cruise line should clearly advertise this. I feel your pain having experienced this ourselves!

One must expect this if one books a cruise during Spring Break.
