It was simply wonderful! So go on the Icon again (when the price lowers lol)
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Honestly, this was the easiest and fastest embarkation I've ever had in 30 years of cruising. We didn't even have priority. Never had to wait in line. This was at noon.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

1. The MDR was amazing. Their food was really good. I only had 1 mean I did not like, and they brought me something else. My only complaint is this was the tightest seating. They put as many tables as possible in there.
2. Windjammer is pretty good. First day lobster for lunch. Breakfast, I'm a simpleton, I only eat yogurt and fruit, so that's easy. My husband said the waffles were not good but French toast was. Bacon is always crispy. Only drawback, if you don't go early, you don't get a table.
Aqua Dome Market is AMAZING! I honestly ate there almost every day. The Asian and Mediterranean bowls were to die for. Simple, yet delicious.
Onboard Activities

1. Watersides were so fun!!!!! I'm 52 and enjoyed them. Yes, there are lines but south it being a family based ship, that's too be expected.
2. Pools....welp, I consider the pools people soup because they sit in there all day. The royal pool shut down 2 days in a row because the drunk people threw up. π
Also, every.single.pool was body to body.
3. Mini Golf, is just that.
Entertainment

We saw the Aqua Show and it was amazing in the new Aqua Dome. Bravo!
Wizard of Oz was ok. Let me say the show is too long. The acting was cruise ship acting, the way the did Toto was silly to me. The show shut down two times (shortly) due to technical problems. The effects were the best part of the show! Amazing. However, I did fall asleep through part of the show. I guess I needed a nap.
The comedy show was pretty good. They weren't crazy funny but entertaining.
The Jazz venue band. Y'all I loooooove Jazz so I was really excited about tutors venue. It's small but nice. We found a table and the band was warming up. The first thing I noticed was the female singer stood off to the side while the male musicians laughed and were interacting with one another. Then, when it was time to start she joined in. Ok, here's where it went bad. They all looked very uncomfortable with her and she with them. Like she was an outsider. It made me feel bad for her. The show was so bad, Y'all. All the musicians looking at their music ale never up. The singer, not one looking at the audience and reading the words to the song. I walked out.
The Music Hall!!! Y'all the classic rock tribute band Phoenix was AMAZING! It was literally like going to a rock concert. I had a blast, and it was the best entertainment on the ship!
Dueling Pianos! So fun and funny. Get there early to get a seat. It's so worth it!
Service and Staff

I can say enough about the amazing service on this ship. The staff all looked so happy to be there, and the interaction was greatness!
Ship Quality

Ok, I'm going to start with how happy I was with how much space is available on the decks. Every single cruise day, I went out at 10 am and grabbed a spot for all 6 of us. In the shade, of course, because I'm a vampire. Bravo Royal.
The ship was sooooo clean and new. Well because it is new.
Cabin / Stateroom

We had cabin 14196. I was so worried bring right below the pool deck. Y'all it wasn't bad at all! During the day, yes, you will hear the occasional child running. But at night, it was so quiet. The did spray clean the decks at 5 am but it was very short lived and I get up very early on cruises anyways.
The beds! This was the most comfortable mattress they have ever had! (Besides the suites of course) Royal doesn't have the best reputation for comfortable beds but THANK YOU Royal for getting better mattresses!
Bathroom! Yay for larger shower!!!! I'm 5'1 and had alllll the room. My brother in the cabin next to me is 6'5 and he was very impressed.
The cabin is spacious. I wished the would put drawers were they put the baskets but wasn't an issue. Design is nice and modern. The hair dryer isn't connected!!! That made it so much easier to dry my hair. The balcony was nice. I looooved the extra shade bring on deck 14 under the pool area.
We paid the extra do go to the new Hideaway Bay (Adult only)
It was incredible and will do it every single time.
The pool had lots of space and it's heated. The swim up bar was nice and drinks incredibly strong.
The food was ok.
Looooved Hideway Bay!!!!
I'm here this week in the icon, everything ok, but the wizard of Oz show was too long, kind of boring. The other think was that they don't have the Solarium, this place disappeared for the Icon series.
