Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I have been cruising my entire life and have experienced delicious meals in the MDR. The food quality in the MDR has drastically decreased. I’m not a foodie and it doesn’t bother me but I thought I’d let others know in case food is an important component of your trip. The windjammer had better food in my opinion than the MDR. We only ate dinner in the MDR so I’m unsure of other meals. We still went nightly as we loved our waiters and wanted them to be happy. For a brand new ship we did not see many people in the dining room. I believe others ate at specialty dining or the windjammer.

Onboard Activities

Great pools and we loved Hideaway Bay! Almost daily one or two other pools were closed down due to children pooping and vomiting but there are many pools to choose from. The slides are awesome and we did them after excursions instead of sea days as lines were understandably long.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Wizard of Oz was phenomenal! The ice show was amazing and the comedy show was hilarious! The Effectors doesn’t have a great storyline but the special effects are fantastic and the cast was terrific! The Aqua show was the only one we didn’t care for but everyone is different and others seemed to like it. It’s a lot of special effects and it’s very loud. I think Royal was wanting to highlight their advanced technology.

Service and Staff

Everyone was super friendly and worked very hard! We loved all of the staff we encountered! Service is top notch!

Ship Quality

The ship is very clean and we constantly saw staff cleaning and sanitizing! I loved the layout of the ship and their new elevator design! We never waited more than 2-3 minutes for an elevator and they were never full. The addition of the escalators helped too as we never had to wait to get on or off the ship at the ports. Seamless!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a junior suite with an amazing bathroom! It had a full size bathtub and beautiful shower. Tons of space and they have US outlets in the bathroom for hairdryers and curling irons! For a junior suite the cabin size was smaller than any other ship we’ve been on but there were only two of us so it was not a problem. Having three in that cabin would have been cramped.

Ship tip

If you have the ability to book a daybed in Hideaway Bay, I’d highly recommend it! We did the ocean view one as the pool one was way too crazy and crowded. It was worth it to us to have the guaranteed seats, cold waters and a beautiful and peaceful area.

Ports of call

Basseterre, St. Kitts

First time at this port. We loved our snorkeling excursion but the island itself was sketchy. There were people with monkeys trying to put them on your shoulder as you walk by and they try to make you hold them so they can charge you money. We didn’t fall victim but some friends we made did and when they got back to the ship they looked at the pictures and all he took pictures of was the street after charging them $30! They had zero pictures. Also, we met someone who had a van driver quadruple the price of their ride after they returned to port and the police were called. The police sided with the taxi cab and the guy ended up spending $300 fofor a ride he was

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

Perfect as always! We love it there and getting a daybed on south beach was well worth the money.
