Review summary

R/C has lowered their food standards. Apparently making money is more important than pleasing cruisers. Sauna and steam used to be free, now charge $149 per person, ridiculous.

Agreed fine dining is nothing to brag about.

Yeah, the food is fine, nothing great. Slowly getting more bland. The Indian food can be better if you like that. I like RC ships and entertainment better but oddly I find Carnival’s food better. Shaq’s chicken, Guy’s burger and the Blue Iguana are a nice relief from the ordinary.

We definitely didn’t go hungry on our last couple of Royal cruises as we are not overly picky . . . but with that said there were obvious cutbacks. Hoping as the pickup in cruising continues they will return to the quality we have become accustomed to on Royal.

We just came off Wonder, and we're fortunate enough to be able to have dinner in Coastal Kitchen, but having taken a look at Windjammer and Solarium Bistro lunchtime offerings can see the massive cutbacks in number and quality on offer. Our one venture into a speciality restaurant (Hooked) was a massive, overpriced disappointment and a complaint about the crab cakes being dry and lacking crab was responded with "I'll let the chef know". In general the ship meets expectations, but the cost cutting, nickel and diming and driving to pay for dining is VERY apparent.
