Review summary

Overall, the trip was a success. I did have problems reaching out to my agent prior to sailing. I had to solve my problems on my own. But, it all worked out in the end.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room was wonderful! The breakfasts were very nice. My wait staff for the evening meals were the best people! Made and Thiago were wonderful! The Chops Grille restaurant was very nice. The steak was nicely prepared. But with every good thing about the restaurants, there was a bad side. The Windjammer Market on Harmony is not nearly as good as it is on the other Royal ships I have sailed on. I have to say, I was very disappointed in the buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The Abyss and Perfect Storm slides were fun. The carousel was lovely. The pools were not overly crowded most days, but they were not really large enough to enjoy. The Zip Line was not in service, which was a bit of a bummer.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Fine Line & Big Daddy's Hideaway Heist aqua-shows were absolutely AMAZING! The acrobats and divers were oh so wonderful! The heights they dive from is mind boggling. Even with the movement of the sea due to incoming storms, they never showed any trepidation. The ice shows were spectacular! The skaters were beautiful. Unfortunately, I could not get in to see the comedy acts, as they were booked every show. Grease the Musical was fun. The props were really nice. I totally enjoyed the show, even though I never saw the movie or knew what the story line was about. Everyone around me laughed when they found out I was a "noobie" as they called me. :)

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The wait staff in the main dining room could not be more professional! As soon as I sat down, they were there to greet me personally, by name! From the first night, I was treated like family. They made my trip! My room steward, Hary, was so kind. He worked around my coming and going out of my cabin. The bed was made beautifully every night. I never ran out of fresh towels.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean. At no time, did the ship appear untidy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size was good. There wasn't adequate lighting for make up, but I made do with the light that was available. The bed was comfortable.

Ship tip

Do not try to do everything. You will be overwhelmed if you try to fit in every show.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

This is my home port. The new terminal was very lovely. The embarkation process was swift.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

For me, this is paradise in Western Caribbean. I went to the animal park and held sloths and monkeys. The parrots were beautiful!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Usually, this is a favorite port, but this day, there were over 18,000 tourists there at the same time. It was way too crowded.

Cozumel, Mexico

2 out of 5
The people in Cozumel are very pushy. I did not like being hounded relentlessly. And when I did not buy what they were trying to sell, they became rude and actually hostile in some cases. I do not plan to leave the ship again if I return to to Cozumel.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Once I was off the ship, the process was absolutely painless.
