Review summary

This was my second time on Harmony OTS and it reminded me of why it is my favorite ship. Any complaints are minor and were expected given the large number of passengers. Crew worked hard to make everyone's vacations fantastic.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived right in the middle of our assigned check-in window and everything moved quickly. The process was orderly and, despite what looked like long lines, everything was almost constant motion. We were on the ship in less than 30 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Despite hearing a lot of criticism of the new MDR menus, the food was very good on the 4 nights that we ate there. Service was quick, the food was generally presented at an appropriate temperature, and the dishes were flavorful. We ate at 150 Central Park one evening and that total experince was phenomenal. While I generally don't enjoy buffet food, I also found the selections there to be fair to good. My only real complaints were temperatures of some soups and a few dishes. Overall, I found buffet selections to be fewer than in years past, but still a good selection. The freshly made entrees (live cooking stations) were consistently great. Further, the lunch at Coco Cay Beach Club was excellent. Finally, I did deduct a few points due to my dinner one evening in the Solarium Bistro. IMO, switching the mains to small plates served from a buffet line negatively impacted the quality of the food. Proteins were primarily dry and accompanying sides/garnish were overcooked.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I really wanted to relax this time so I didn't take advantage of many of the offered activities. Still, I loved the variety of equipment in the fitness center and fully utilized it and the jogging track. I really appreciate the layout of the jogging tracks on Oasis-class ships - some of the best at sea IMO. Further, the Solarium area was really nice and I was happy to witness crew enforcing the age requirements.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I only attended the aqua theater performance, and I also had an opportunity to listen to a few of the live bands on occasion. The aqua show was amazing! I also enjoyed all of the live musical performances but I wish that evenings included more opportunities for live Caribbean/Reggae music. The evening that they featured this music in Boleros was very popular and well received, so I wish that there had been more.

Children's Programs

I don't have children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Even when staff seemed short-handed, they offered excellent service with a smile.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The layout within the cabin made it feel even more spacious. The best part of this cabin is the extended Central Park balcony (large enough for a table, two chairs, and a lounger) that did not cost any more than any of the other cabins in the same category.

Ship tip

Take advantage of the free breakfast served several mornings at Johnny Rockets.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

The Beach Club is typically over priced, but it is a great treat IF you are able to catch a good sale. The Beach Club is definitely an upgraded experience and the lunch is excellent.

Disembarkation

The process of getting off the ship was typical and moved fairly quickly (beyond the issues of getting an elevator). However, once you were off of the ship and at the port, it was total chaos.
