Prior to the ship sailing, I ordered a wine and cheese plate to be delivered to our room for when we arrived. It was supposed to be a sauvignon blanc. When we arrived at the room, it was there but it was chardonnay - not sauvignon blanc, it was warm, and with the cork intact. I do not travel with a corkscrew in my pocket. I reported this to customer service but apparently that service is from a separate concession. Needless to say, I will not do that again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We paid for the Key and that provided us with extra benefits including early embarkation. In addition to including Internet access, the Key also provided preferred seating at shows, early debarkation at ports, and early debarkation when we returned to our port of origin.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was good but not outstanding. The buffet was great for lunch. We used the main dining room for breakfast and some dinners.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The onboard activities were good but we are too old for rock climbing or the surfing. I did do the Abyss - a ten-story enclosed dry slide and that was fun. The Key also had designated times for priority use for many of these activities.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The Fine Line water acrobatics show was phenomenal and we would have gone again if were showing later in the cruise. Grease was OK. Some of the musicians were excellent wheras others were just OK.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our steward, Teddy, was very attentive and we could not have asked for better service.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship took every opportunity to ensure cleanliness. I was especially impressed that everyone using the buffet was required to wash their hands at a sink there before being allowed to enter.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had no complaints regarding our cabin. We did not expect anything that was not provided.
Ship tip
Some of the decks do not go from front to back and you need to find a pathway that works. Deck 8 Central Park is a good choice.
We did not do an excursion but rather walked around the compound. Other than planning to spend the day at the beach, there is little to do or see here. There were local performers that seemed to get very little attention from passengers. A planned show of local customs and dances would have been a nice attraction.
We did not do an excursion but rather created our own walking tour and focused on local museums. The Queen Emma floating bridge was fascinating. It was very similar to visiting Amsterdam.
