We would definitely cruise on this ship again. Plenty of things to do, the entertainment is exceptional and the staff incredible (if not always knowing themselves where everything is located on such a large ship).
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was short and easy. Yes, we bought The Key from RC, didn't really need it as there were no big lines.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Okay, here is the one downside to the cruise; the food was just okay. The welcome lunch for Key members was poor with zero choices for vegans. Dinners were nothing special; chicken and steaks tended to be dry and overcooked, salads watery. The hamburger stand had no condiments; lettuce, tomatoes, not even ketchup. Bars are always too crowded and wait times long, even for a bottle of water or coke.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Plenty to do here. The Key helped with getting special times for some activities like the zip line. But even without those special times, there were never long wait lines for the water slides or rock climbing. The pools always tend to be crowded. The solarium kids free zone helps with that, however, there is no pool in that area, just spas.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
This is a 5 star+! The cast of the two musicals is Broadway talent level. The ice show and aqua shows would rival anything in Vegas. The jazz club had an amazing band of top musicians.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Waiters, bartenders, stewards, guest help are the most professional and friendliest people you will find anywhere in the business.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This is a massive ship and, even by day 3, there were still people wandering the halls lost. That being said, it is well designed with clear directions.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Very roomy for a cruise ship. Separate lounge area with a couch and desk and a decent size shower. We loved sitting on the balcony in the morning taking a coffee.
Ship tip
The better buffet choice for breakfast and lunch is Windjammer, not Solarium of Bites. Don't miss any of the big show productions, they are well worth it. We're still trying to decide if buying The Key for $300 was worth it.
Don't waste your time getting off the boat if you're just going to hang out at the touristy port. We took an excursion to see the Mayan ruins and then had lunch at a Mayan family's house which was amazing.
Very touristy so if you are there to shop, investigate which of the shops actually sell local handcrafted items and which are selling China made. junk.
The only problem here was actually getting an elevator on the ship to take us to the gangplank. We were on floor 7 and every elevator was packed with people and their luggage from the upper floors.
