This was my 13th cruise, 8 with carnival, 3 royal Caribbean, 1 Norwegian, 1 celebrity. 4th on this site, However this is my 1st review as in the past I just liked the countdown and exploring the site.
This was our first time on an oasis class, and biggest ship we been on. Overall a decent cruise, entertainment, and dining, could have been better, in our opinion. We will stick with carnival in the future.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Getting on was not too bad. We had to wait 20 min in the waiting area, but once they started letting in the line moved fast, and at least we were inside in the a/c.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The buffet food tasted ok but lacked variety. The main dining room staff was excellent for dinner, waiter for lunch was rude. Not much variety for my wife whom is vegetarian, basically the few vegetarian options was a mushroom dish. The main dining room is 3 floors, if you like views of the ocean while eating, you only get that on the 1st floor of the dining room.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We didn’t do many activities but there was plenty to choose from and you will always have something to do! Ping pong, the slides, and pool deck area was great. The mini golf course was the worse design we ever seen.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The sound quality of the music around the ship was not good. We typically liked the main productions on past cruises but we walked out of grease, and the Columbus show because they weren’t good in our opinion. 1887 (ice skating show) and the aqua theatre show were both great and entertaining. As for the comedy show, there were 2 comedians, the 1st was funny, the 2nd was not in our opinion.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Main dining room staff at dinner were all excellent, at lunch main dining room waiter was rude. Our room attendant was friendly and excellent! The rest of the staff we encountered were friendly.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Ship was clean, the neighborhood concept is great for crowd control. The ship needs more ocean views. The royal promenade feels very closed off without any view of the ocean. This ship seemed to be very focused on the inside of the ship. For us we prefer more traditional design with the focus on ocean views in the majority of venues, and not just from the pool deck and solarium.
Cabin / Stateroom

Decent size room and balcony. Not sound proof at all thus very noisy throughout the day and most of the night. We knew going in based on location there would be noise, however we also thought there was sound proofing to help. The ship did not sell noise canceling ear plugs. It was worth trying a neighborhood facing balcony, however it’s not for us. We prefer and will definitely stick with classic ocean view balcony in the future.
Ship tip
Make sure if you are vegetarian contact them ahead of time to arrange your food options. If you want an ocean view for dinner in the main dining room request the 1st floor. Also do book entertainment, but don’t stress over it because we sailed at full capacity and getting reservations was not a problem, and the shows that were booked thus we could not reserve, we were able to walk right into with plenty of seats. If parking at the port be prepared to pay before you get to your parking lot.
This is our first time at this Port, we didn’t know the port has a very nice pool and beach area right off the ship with swim up bar, one of the nicest set ups that we have seen. If we had a known that we would not have done our excursion. Our excursion was fun as we did Segway and beach. However the beach portion we were dropped off at a restaurant that was on a poor section of beach (not people, the beach). So all of us were basically forced to eat at the restaurant and wait to go back to the ship.
Terrible, the line to get off self assist was very long. Pay for parking was outside of the parking lot and only two machines. Nobody knew this until getting off the ship so most people had to walk to their car to get their parking ticket, then walk back to the line to pay for parking.
