Review summary

Overall, the cruise was nice. We were happy to be cruising again. This particular cruise was less than 50% capacity from what staff told us. It was nice not to have crowds but it seemed too subdued compared to our last cruise in 2019.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had the Key program, so embarkation was easy. Seemed much more streamlined at Port Canaveral compared to our last cruise. Steps for pre-cruise covid testing were clear. Be prepared to have ID plus test results ready to go to check for boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We ate mostly in Windjammer. We would have eaten in MDR more, but there were really a lot of snooty snobs in MDR this sailing. They need to consider having 3 types of MDR by dress code to avoid the bs we had to deal with. Nowadays people sacrifice to be able to vacation and EVERYONE deserves to eat in the MDR. NOBODY is better than anyone else and people with that mindset have no place in my life, let alone during my vacation!!! 1 MDR for dressy/business attire, 1 for business casual and 1 for casual. It's 2022, I don't care what the flip you wear to eat your food. #EndTheSnootySnobBS

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was smaller than what we thought it would be, but that's on our travel agent, not RCCI. Nice to have the balcony but we only used it a little.

Ship tip

It's a very large ship, so try to check out everything. We missed a lot in my opinion.

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We did Toppers Rhum distillery tour via RCCI. It was ok. We were under the impression it would be a full distillery tour, but it was more like a little store they made into a "tour." Our guide was fun and knowledgeable. The rum was good, but they had so many different flavors that it was too many. Most didn't taste too strong. The rum cake we bought was mediocre, but I'm a baker, so it's tough to impress me; however, it barely tasted like it had rum in it. The recipe for the cake, which is included in their 4 pack of mini rum bottles, is nothing special either- uses boxed cake mix. They are proud that everything is "handmade," but that little plain tasting mini bundt was not worth the price. Make a cake from scratch, with 2 or 3 diffrent flavor selections, and then call it something special. After the tour, we were dropped off at the beach. We had about an hour to spend there, where we were hounded by people selling items and staff wanting us to order food and drinks. Overall, the experience in St. Maarten was not too impressive.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

Disappointed in Coco beach club access. We got there and most lounge chairs were already taken, there were no in pool longers left and no oversized sofas. All of the water mats were taken too. We basically paid for the fancy lunch.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We did a sightseeing tour that was not through the cruiseship. We used Brenda and Frankos tours and Brenda was great!! She was super knowledgeable and fun. We were the only 2 on the tour with Brenda and she treated us so nicely. Check them out for a tour!!
