Review summary

We had a fantastic first cruise experience. I am not sure if we will always have things so easy, but we are already starting to plan our next cruise with Royal Caribbean!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I'm not sure how all ports are, but Port Canaveral embarkation could not have been easier. All staff at port was friendly and helpful, we went from parking lot to ship within 10 minutes, going through security. NOTHING like the stress at airports and TSA, Port Canaveral embarkation was very smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We did not visit the main dining room, but the specialty restaurants were really nice and comfortable.

Izumi

5 out of 5

This one was a treat. We strongly recommend the DX sushi combo for true sushi lovers. This is a great value for 8 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces of spicy tuna roll. We also LOVED the spicy ramen so much that we came back 2 days later for dinner again. We did not like the recommended sushi roll (Futomaki roll) as it was a hot roll and not traditional raw sushi. Service is a little slow here, so don't expect to get in and out in under 1 hour.

Solarium Bistro

5 out of 5

This area was a treat. We loved it for breakfast, much less crowded than Windjammer. Great outdoor seating options as well. Really nice hidden gem, and excellent service.

Pool Bar

5 out of 5

This is a great feature, we loved all the bars around the pool. Very convenient.

Vitality Cafe

4 out of 5

Smoothies were ok, but nice spot to grab some bottled Powerade with your unlimited drink package for shore excursions.

Park Cafe

5 out of 5

This was a fantastic stop for lunch. It's easy to get in and out quickly, grab some sandwiches and snacks for the road and snacking for later. We wish we'd found this one sooner, we didn't stumble upon it until Day 5 of our cruise.

Boot and Bonnet Pub

5 out of 5

Nice bar with a secluded feeling. Great to get away from the crowds, we enjoyed it.

Windjammer Marketplace

3 out of 5

Huge selection for breakfast, but it fills up very fast. Seating can be hard to find after 8AM, so try to go early.

Solarium Bar

5 out of 5

Nice secluded little bar, quiet area to get a drink.

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

This was our favorite spot for a nightcap. The 2nd floor balcony made for a great spot to listen to music, socialize, and people watch. We loved this spot.

Sabor

4 out of 5

Nice food selections, service was a bit slow. The chips and guac were worth visiting for.

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

We did not expect to visit Johnny Rockets but it's a fantastic traditional diner with excellent quick food. The burgers were great, we had a #12 burger and the "red red sauce" was a nice touch. This is a great value for folks who want some comfort food.

Chops Grille

5 out of 5

The food was very good and the selection was nice. Book ahead, it does get busy.

Cafe Promenade

4 out of 5

It can get a little crowded, but service is fast with some nice complimentary snacks. It would be nice to have a little more selection the foods, but overall it was a nice option to have for around-the-clock snacks and drinks. The iced coffees are excellent and fast!

150 Central Park

5 out of 5

This was our favorite restaurant. The meals and food selection was excellent and the service was top notch for all courses. We enjoyed it so much we had dinner twice here on our cruise. Strongly recommend the peanut butter tart for dessert.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Harmony of the Seas has loads of activities, even on a 7-night cruise we didn't have enough time to do everything and see everything. There is something for everyone, for people of all ages.

Royal Promenade

5 out of 5

This was the common gathering area and life of the ship. It really made it feel like we were in a city instead of on a cruise ship, made us feel right at home.

Main Pool

4 out of 5

While there are many pools, they do get crowded quickly. It would be nice to have more space, but obviously it's limited on the ship. Still, it's a nice amenity.

Promenade Shops

4 out of 5

We didn't visit any of the shops, but they were a nice selection and made for fun window shopping.

Whirlpool

5 out of 5

We loved all the whirlpools on board. We must have spent 10 hours or more in various whirlpools on the ship, they were a treat!

Port Shopping

4 out of 5

Port shopping was a bit hit or miss, but we did like having lots of options.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Getting reservations and in to see all the shows can be a bit tricky, as they book up fast. We'd have liked to see more of the popular shows, but it was not easy to do. Still, lots of good options even if you don't get to see the main shows.

Solarium

5 out of 5

This was the place we spent most of our time on the boat. Lots of seating options, great for sun bathing and getting some quiet time. We also loved all the hot tubs so you could get away from the crowds on the rest of the ship. Highly recommend this area for couples looking for some alone time and peace and quiet.

Central Park

5 out of 5

Beautiful atrium with lots of seating for lounging and getting away from the crowds.

Aquatheater

5 out of 5

Seating is nice with good views all around. Love being able to watch Football on the big screens as well.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was great, particularly house keeping. They clean rooms twice a day, which is lovely coming back to a comfortable stateroom. All staff really go out of their way to make sure your cruise is an enjoyable experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Harmony of the Seas ship is a beautiful design, with easy access via fast elevators and lots of maps to ensure you know where you are going. We really enjoyed how well the ship is laid out and never had to wait long for an elevator. All the corridors and boardwalks also ensure you have lots of ways to get to your destination to avoid congestion.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an ocean view balcony and it was so much nicer than we had expected. The stateroom had plenty of room for us and suitcases fit comfortably under the bed. It was worth the extra cost to get an ocean view balcony, making those days as sea very enjoyable to listen to the sounds of the ocean and watch morning sunrise, as well as passing land and ships in the distance.

Ship tip

Check your fees before you disembark. We had some errors in fees and had to go to customer service aboard the ship. Do this as soon as you can, do not wait until later in your cruise. Going to customer service on final night can mean wait times of up to 30 minutes standing in line.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Great parking, lots of great restaurant choices. Very nice terminal building as well.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Facilities were very clean. Weather was windy and seas were rough so many excursions and activities were limited while we were there.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
While the port seemed small, there were a lot of shops with good value. There could have been more food options, but overall the facilities felt safe and easy access. We did a 3rd party excursion to visit Chacchoben Mayan ruins and it was fantastic. We went with local tour company (The Native Choice) and they were oustanding. We learned so much, it was one of the highlights of our cruise.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
The port is undergoing upgrades, which should help provide more options to cruisers. At time of our visit, there were not a lot of options at Port, although shops did have fantastic pricing compared to Mexico. We did 3rd party glass bottom reef tour and it was excellent. The reef in Roatan is truly a treasure and worth exploring.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
International Port at Cozumel had a lot of shopping options. There could have been more local food options, but overall we were happy with selection of shops and eateries. We did 3rd party snorkeling trip and were blown away at the amenities and beauty of Cozumel coastline and reef. Beautiful destination.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation could not have been smoother. We disembarked at 645AM via self service and were through customs and to parking lot within 15 minutes. Everything was very organized, there was no pushing or complaining. All passengers and workers worked together and the process was very stress-free.
