Review summary

We had an amazing time on our cruise. I traveled with my 16 year old son who was off and running with other teenagers so basically I was a solo cruiser! I did not feel awkward at all being alone and hanging out. It was rather enjoyable! BRING TOWEL CLIPS FOR YOUR CHAIRS AT THE POOLSIDE! They will blow away and are $25 to replace.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I thought that the food was good, but some of the entrees where not as good as I had expected. Some entrees came with too much gravy on them etc. I received specialty dining with my room that was good for one lunch. I was not told to book in advance and a few days before the end of the cruise we tried to make a lunch reservation and could not get in the specialty restaurant and had to go to an alternative.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I saw the various activities at the adult pool, and went to a few shows---adult comedy, Fine, a game show, Grease, etc. I enjoyed all of the shows very much.

Entertainment

AMAZING! My son even got a chance to talk with some of the stage hands that were working for the show Fine. He really enjoyed hearing about the show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
There was not really a time that I was unhappy with any of the service that I received. The only thing that I do recall is that I brought back a bottle of rum (empty) from Haiti. I placed it on the shelf at the desk. It was there for a few days, but on my last night of the cruise I came back and the bottle was gone. I guess it was not a big deal---I had a picture of it so I can still recall the name of the rum. However just felt it was odd that it was thrown away/taken when it was not in the trash, and on a shelf.

Ship Quality

Always saw the crew cleaning---never saw anything that was dirty!

Cabin / Stateroom

I have no complaints. It was very clean! The only thing I would have liked to have had was a couple of extra towels instead of just one each. I definitely could have asked---but I did not. So this is not on the room attendant at all. He was very attentive.

Ship tip

The WOW Bands are not worth it. I bough the band so that I did not have to keep taking my Sea Pass Card out and when I ordered drinks most of the waitstaff asked for my Sea Pass Card anyways. I understand why because if they have multiple drink orders they still have to take your band to scan it and there is a potential that the bands can get mixed up. Also my band kept splitting around the sensor area and after returning it twice for a replacement I asked for a refund. I feel a lanyard with a clear pouch to hold your Sea Pass is the best way to go.

Ports of call

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

We chose to go to the next island over which was for a Cultural Tour and then you were able to hang out at a private beach. We enjoyed the excursion and was able to see locals making their goods to sell. We also had the opportunity to taste test some bread and peanut butter that they were making. Rum Punch (non-alcoholic was available) was very good!! Please bring some money to tip the locals when you stop to see their demonstrations and do taste tests or take pictures with them. It is just a nice gesture. Be aware that the same items that they sell are also available through other areas you will walk through so do not be afraid to haggle as the prices in these shops are much higher.

We took an excursion for shopping and then went to Doctor's Cove Beach. We would not recommend this because the shopping was limited to one store and then when we got to the beach where there were to be a few places to eat they were so crowded we would have spent most of our time waiting to be served (90 minute wait). We ended up having to leave the area where we were dropped off at and walk to another place to eat.

Cozumel, Mexico

AMAZING! We went to Chaak Tun Cenotes for a swim in the caves! It was a bit cold---or as the guide told us it was REFRESHING---which actually it really was! Our guide was Luigi and he was very knowledgeable of the caves. Lunch was provided and it was authentic Mexican food which was very, very good! Then you cannot forget about dessert----TEQUILA TASTING! We definitely enjoyed this excursion!! One thing to be aware of are some of the locals trying to get you to go into their shops! Once we got back from the excursion and were waiting for the bus to take us back to the ship we were walking around and I was approached by a jewelry shop working describing to me that he had served me on the ship---named my ship etc. He said that he was off the ship for the day to come and work at his mom's shop. We went in and then he tried to haggle with us to buy a pendant. He got very angry when we decided not to buy it. He even was trying to get us to give him the beach towel that my son had to cover the cost---that is when I realized he recognized the towel as being provided by the cruise line and he was not visiting his mothers shop. He continued to talk to us in an very angry manner as we walked out and away from the store.

I was originally a bit nervous about making our 11:00 departure which was about an hour away at Palm Beach International airport. We kept our luggage and carried it off in the morning. We got right off the ship basically---really no delays. I was also worried about the delay that there could have been getting through Customs---but there was no delay! Everything was ran very efficiently and organized!!
