Review summary

Overall it was pretty good. RC did not tell us about the previous outbreak of the norovirus on the previous cruise until we had already set sail. I don't know if it would have changed anyone's mind but people with compromised immune systems should be told ahead of time. Also as I stated above RC should make an announcement about travel advisories that any government has issued.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
We had early boarding at noon but there was a problem with cleaning for norovirus from previous cruise and we did not get on till after 1:00. the man at the holding area was rude. There were some people on board already so I'm not really sure what happened.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room and the buffet were good. We only went to Chop's Grille and it was good too.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pools and hot tubs were fine. Deck chairs crowded on sea days. The gym is nice. Miniature golfing and carousel were pretty neat. Jogging/walking track around ship was nice.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
It was hard to see the stage shows. You have to make a reservation way in advance of sailing. No room for walk-ins and we're not really planners. The robot bar was so cool.

Children's Programs

Didn't take any children.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone except embarkation employees were nice and helpful.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Very large ship. It's best to study layout ahead of time. Some floors don't go through. People would stand on one level and yell to people below that they didn't know how to get down there.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Size was fine. it was very clean. Bed was not comfortable, too hard. Found a comforter under the bed in a bag and folded it up to make it softer. Washcloths felt like sandpaper.

Ship tip

Make reservations for shows and specialty restaurants way ahead of time. Study layout of ship.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

2 out of 5
Guards at gate were telling people who had carried weapons during their travel to FT. Lauderdale that they could not enter the port with them and that they could put them in a locker at the nearby private parking lot. The parking lot said that they have not had lockers in 4 years so nobody knows what they're doing. You can park there and leave your weapons in your car.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
No excursion, walked around, food and drink overpriced, city not cleaned up from hurricane.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
No excursions, took an Uber to a huge mall. It was pretty nice, local authorities were having a safety fair, police officers, firefighters, etc., were friendly.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island) Did not visit port

First this is not an island, it is a cove. I am US citizen. Our State Dept. had ordered all civilians and non essential personnel off of the island a few days before and had issued a travel warning so we did not get off the ship. Many people did and nothing went wrong however our government had said they would not be able to help us if it did. I thought it was irresponsible that RC did not make anyone aware of this advisory.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation went much better than embarkation. No problems.
