Harmony of the Seas

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: October 06, 2018

Ship: Harmony of the Seas

Traveled as: Large Group

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

We were a group of 8 people. 4 kids, 2 parents, and 2 grandparents. So we had a large spectrum of ages, requirements, and expectations. This ship (and especially the dedicated personnel on the ship) filled all categories with 5 stars and more. We can't wait until we can afford to take another cruise!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was fantastic; but the service and interchange with the dining staff was above and beyond anything we have EVER experienced. Of the 200 or so meals we (as a group) ate, I can say that there was only one main course that I didn't care for. But not a problem as I was given another main course!

Service and Staff

The staff deserves 100 stars. Very friendly and they went way beyond their job functions to make our vacation a memorable one.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Incredibly clean and VERY sensitive to encouraging all guests to wash hands, etc. before/after eating.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Extremely nice and grateful that Royal Caribbean allowed the broadcast of FOX news.

Ship tip

Remember that all the folks who work hard to make your trip unforgettable are human beings just like us. I ask one of the employees if he/she had ever taken their family on a cruise. His answer ... never, because he/she couldn't afford the cost of such a cruise. Sad. I also asked if he/she were able to keep up with their families since they all sign a 7 month contract. Their answer: sometimes but not always because of the extreme cost (to the employees) of the internet aboard the ship. Yep, that's right. Employees are charged daily internet fees to communicate with their families that they do not see for SEVEN months. Sad.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Leaving was fantastic. Getting off the ship was terrible. It took over 3 hours. The hurricane may have caused this delay (mainly at customs). It would have helped if someone had told us that the luggage was separated in TWO different groups: EVEN number Tags and ODD number tags. Since we did not know this we spent a lot of time trying to locate our luggage.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

San Juan, Puerto Rico Did not visit port

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

A fantastic experience. Just as good as the Disney island .. if hot better! Lots of shade and lots of room to explore. I would have traded all ports for 3 days at Labadee!!!
