Review summary

Lots to do and see. Service is starting to slip compared to previous times on the Harmony and Allure.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very fast and efficient. We were on the boat in less than 15 minutes. It makes a big difference being familiar with the port. This was our 3rd time on the Harmony. We also knew to check in ahead of time including downloading a picture which really speeds things up.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We did not eat any meals in the specialty restaurants. The buffets always had a lot to choose from and the food was hot. Yes, it is crowded, but everything runs smoothly. Everybody I saw made good use of the hand washing stations going in. The main dining was hit and miss. Our wait staff made many mistakes bringing the wrong food but we often ate it anyways seeing as we hated to waste. The menu became very repetitious.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
You would be hard pressed to be bored on this ship. It is the biggest in the world and they had activities going on for much of the day and all of the evening. Wide selection should please every age. I prefered to watch and relax from the sideline. Love the hot tubs that hang over the side of the ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were great. The diving show was cancelled due to high winds and waves but they put on another tight wire walking and acrobatic show over the pool that was very entertaining. Grease was performed very well. You could tell many had Broadway experience.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
I hear it is top notch from nephew and niece but do not use it ourselves. No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff will do anything to please you. Although they work long hours, they always have a smile on their faces and show pride in their work.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Staff clean 24 hours around the clock. The ship is approaching 2 years of age but still looks brand new due to the digilant work of the staff.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Bismark was our attendant and was very thorough. Any thing we asked for, like a robe and extra bar soap, was provided quickly and with a smile. He always took the time to say hello and see if we had any questions. Room was very clean but the bed was not as comfortable as other cruises including the Allure of the Seas.

Ship tip

Do your on-line check in as soon as you can and if you enjoy the shows, make a point of booking them very early. If you don't get it, be patient, smile and wait in line before the show and you will almost certainly get in, just not the best seat.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
Didn't spend much time. Very fast trip by taxi (about $18 US) from the airport.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
Just nice to be away from the snow in Canada. $4 taxi to downtown. Lots to see and vendors are not pushy.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
Again, lots to see and do. If you like to shop, like Saint-Thomas, there are may stores eager for your business without being pushy.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
less to do. Vendors are very pushy but, if I lived there, I likely would be too. They are just trying to make a living but be prepared. Did the zip line and loved it.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We walked off with our luggage due to an early flight. It was very fast and painless.
