Review summary

This was our first cruise and it won't be our last!  The ship exceeded our expectations and even seven days wasn't enough to explore everything.

Embarkation went pretty smoothly, although, as newbies, the transfers from the airport were a little dicey and I definitely understand the value in packing lightly for the next time!  Our first couple of hours on the ship were heavenly, as we found the Solarium Bar where we sipped some delicious pina coladas in the open sea air before the ship left port.

Our cabin was a huge disappointment!  We went with an interior cabin, so were prepared for the lack of light and fresh air...to a certain point.  What we were NOT prepared for, though, was the overwhelming stench of sewage emanating from the hallway as you made your way toward the cabin.  We complained immediately to the steward, who said he could not smell it, even though a number of other passengers, as they passed in the hallway had complained as well.  A housekeeping supervisor was sent to us next.  He, as well, coulldn't seem to detect the odor, but promised that, as we went for dinner, it would "be taken care of."  We returned to the cabin to find that the entire space had been sprayed with something that had the instantaneous effect of causing congestion, sneezing and headaches for both my husband and myself.  Our first night was spent awake and sick.

The next day, we went to Customer Services to complain again and were told, as we had been the previous evening, that there were no other cabins in our category available.  We persisted, citing our sleepless night and allergic reactions.  By 5:00, a supervisor secured us another interior cabin which lacked the noxious odor.  We, however, were in charge of moving all of our belongings from cabin to cabin in the space of ten minutes, in order to make our dinner reservations.

Highlights on the ship included having drinks at the Robotic Bar, the Hush Party, Karaoke, Trivia, and dinner at Wonderland.  I cannot express strongly enough that eating in this specialty restaurant is an experience not to me missed.  The decor is enchanting, the service unparalleled, and the food unimaginably unique and presented in such a beautiful manner.  Truly an experience you won't forget!

All in all, I would recommend a cruise on Harmony, although I am curious to try another line for our next trip, just for comparison's sake.

Ship tip

Don't skip Wonderland specialty restaurant. If your budget allows, try to book something other than an interior cabin.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience on first cruise. You will get more savvy as you try it again. Outside balcony strongly suggested as it puts a great spin on "cruising". We have tried 5 cruise lines and they all have their good and bad ships. RCC makes the best big ships, Carnival is called the "fun ship" for young couples and singles that stay up past 10:30 lol. NCL has started a trend of putting bars and restaurants outside. Genius

My wife and I just returned from the Oasis of the seas. This ship is absolutely awesome. We've done 2 cruises on this ship. If you can, pay get an outside balcony cabin. The fresh air and majestic view is worth it. Our last trip the bathroom sink was draining slowly, just to point of a small annoyance. The second night a guest services person called just to see how we were. I mentioned the sink. She wanted to sent someone that night to fix it. it was 9pm. I said it wasn't that bad and could wait until the morning. 10 minutes later out cabin attendant came to the door and inquired about the sink. I expressed that it could wait until the morning and he said he will have them come in the morning. 20 minutes later we heard a knock on the door. I looked out the peep hole and didn't see anyone. I opened the door and there was a maintenance worker who already had the wall opened up and said he was fixing the sink. 10 minutes later we had a free flowing sink. This is just an example of the great service we've received from everyone on the Oasis of the Seas.

We just booked on the harmony for next year. My Bf is excited for the robotic bar and I want to go to wonderland. Might buy a specialty dinning package if I see it on sale
