Very Nice Cruise to the Carribean by Tommm777

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our Second Cruise in the December Time Frame to the Caribbean Seas.  The ports of call on both cruises were different.  The boat was nice and the packages from BJ's worked out well.  You must insure that the BJ's shore excursions get back to your boat on time though.  The boat sometimes makes small departures changes that could leave you stranded if you do not remind your land tour people that you need to be back on time.  Entertainment was great, crew was great.  I'll do it again.

Wonderful vacation by thehours0416

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I had to re-scheduled my vacation in late October due to complications with my surgery. Both and Royal Caribbean were very helpful and kind. I traveled  with my granddaughter and enjoyed every bit of this vacation. Food was great, shows were wonderful, 5 stars to Royal Caribbean! Have two more reservations and looking forward to my next trip on Grandeur!

Great ports, Average ship, Average food, Average Entertainment by jontrosky

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My partner and I booked this cruise in the last 90 days and scored a 550 inside cabin for 12 days. We have no complaint about the price and def got more than we paid for.

With that said, as someone who is a frequent cruiser this ship / food / entertainment was pretty average. We are 36 and 27 years old and we were def in the 100 youngest people onboard of the over 2000, because of that we didn't feel the whole experiance wasn't really gear towards our demographic.

The ports of call were great, except St Thomas, I guess the port was over booked with cruise ships and we had to tender to shore, because of this we were unable to get off the boat till after noon even though we arrived at 8am! Had to be back on the ship by 4pm So we lost that day completely.

Dominica is a new port the ships are going to now, it ended up being our favorite port, from the champaign beach, to the waterfalls, to the boiling sulfur pits, it was a really cool experiance. It wasn't over touristy like St thomas and St Marteen have become.

The rest of the ports were cool, Barbados we swam with turtles over a ship wreck, st marteen and st Lucia were nice and touristy.

7 days at sea is a bit much for a smaller ship with limited activities, we spent many of those days chillin in our small inside cabin because there wasn't a ton of activities geared towards a younger/middle age crowd.

If youre a baby baby boomer or older this cruise will be great for you.

if your gen x/y ... You will be able to relax but won't be blown away

millennials will get board with the ship after a day or so.

The 12 day part of this is really the best thing, the 3/4 days to settle in and realize your on vacation was nice, then the 5 days at port felt like abtrue adventurous vacation, then the last 3 days to unwind and do nothing was great. Overall middle of the line cruise experiance, if you can snag this cruise for a good price (40-60$ a day) its worth your time.

Great destintions. Over zealous at pool rule appliations. by wkoenig3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Ports were fun. Went to great beaches on our own. Pool " monitors" kept removing articles from pool chairs they felt were being saved too long even if mate was present and other was at lunch or shopping on board ship. Got to be a hide and seek game.

Cruise Impressions by Cruiser28694519

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoyed the entertainment. The food choices at dinner did not meet our expectations. The staff throughout the ship were very competent and nice.  Grandeur of the Seas no longer has chocolates on the pillows at night and does not have a daily paper of current events.

A great trip with this ship by lipingzhang

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Excellent cruise. The staff was wonderful. We liked food in the Great Gatsby dining room and enjoyed entertainment. Our waiter Jessman and assistant Alex were wonderful. The food in Windjammer Cafe was good, however, the soup mostly was too salted.

3rd Time Isn't Always a Charm by MollyP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our third cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas. We felt comfortable with this ship although it is showing it's age for sure. We had a wonderful state room, room steward, location on the ship and wonderful weather. However, a Thanksgiving cruise is for families with children. There were 500 on board. Some are well behaved but the few that were not really made it difficult on everyone else. I blame the parents for no discipline. My husband is a plain eater and he did not care for all the ethnic dishes and tasteless desserts. The dining room, Great Gatsby, had perfect service, Indar, and food was good if you got soemthing you knew what it was. Many items on the menu were unknown to me, Cock-a-leekie???  Lots of strange items. So, it wasn't quite the cruise we had hoped for. Partly our fault, but the entertainment on the ship was not what it used to be. Only 1 comedy show, and no Newleywed Game. Intertainment was so so.  Anyhow, cruising was calm, docking was wonderful, loading and unloading went perfect. Never saw a photographer except for Formal night. Anyhow, things were different.

Royal Carribean cruise by harmeetsodhi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a great time on the cruise. The ship itself was clean and well maintained, the service was excellent and the food was great. It helps to have the Unlimited Drinks package, since that means you get unlimited supply of bottled water, specialty drinks and beverages. The specialty restaurants were also great. We had a great time and the cruise exceeded all our expectations. Great value for money too.

Great little boat out of Charm City! by CruisinBolyards

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This ship is an older, smaller ship so it made my in-laws first cruise easy going.  It is clean and full of wonderful food and workers.  We enjoyed every aspect of the trip.  My only wish would be for a water slide!

Good experience by kqb052

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Our first cruise with RC. Overall the experience is good. The food is OK. Service and staff are excellent. The kids' program only allow a very limited number of kids to be enrolled and every time there is a long line even 20 minutes before the kids' program starts. What can I say? It's not ideal for cruisers with young age kids.

Summary by egoumis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: North America

Entertainment very good.  Weather not always cooperative. Staff excellent, especially mytime dining staff especially host- Khenn; headwaiter food and beverage Roshmann Coutinho, waiter Indra Leksmana from Bali - very professional and entertaining, assistant waiter Viacheslav.  Cabin steward Ricardo Estargo very helpful.

Food not always up to expectations, especially pastas= sauce was bland and tasted like it came out of a chef boyardee can,  and one night the scallops were 75% invisible.  The fish dishes were good and I loved the lamb.

First time on a cruise by grampa70

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: North America

Our favorite part of the cruise was seeing the different shows they had available. We enjoyed ourselves very much. Really liked the different games that were available to play, like trivia, & tri-bond. Your staff were very helpful to us. We thank the Captain of this ship for getting us safely to our destination. There were days when the sea was very rough! Definitely would go on another cruise. The cabin steward, the waiter, waitress, bartender, and people from your photo gallery were very personal. We would like to thank each and every one of them especially the head waiter. He took the time to know your name and was very friendly! Thank you for making our first cruise very memorable!!Happy

Will do again by hankal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have been on this ship 3 times and are booked again in March 2017.  We like the Enchantment better but she is now in Miami.  For the money the value is very good, ports of call are enjoyable.  We usually go off on our own but did take the tour in St Lucia and the Ultimate tour in St Maarten, both worth the price.  We are ballroom dancers as a pastime and would prefer more venues for this but, understand we are in a minority.  Kelly, taught dance classes and was excellent, hope to see her in March.  All in all a very enjoyable cruise.

The Old Grandeur by WoodynDeanie63

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Old ship needs some maintence on it. Love the smaller ships most tho. Friendly staff. Food could have been better with more variety. Entertainment was good. Most activities at the same time so you had to choose missing out on some you wanted to attend. Weather was great. Wish the Enchantment would come back to Baltimore.

Disappointments and suggestions. by drobey03

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My biggest disappointment was the Royal Suite.  People pay quite a bit of money for this cabin.  Although nicely appointed, there apparently no attempt to provide any sort of buffering/sound proofing to deaden the sounds coming from the Windjammer restaurant above.  Between 5 & 5:30 am every morning I was amongst the galley crew rolling out trolleys and moving things around.  Big disappointment for quite a few bucks.

Also, apparently I was suppose to met and escorted abort by the concierge (per the concierge), but there was a lack of communications as that didn't happen.  For me, not a big deals as I have boarded many ships myself, but there are others who would have been upset.  Might want to see where the breakdown in communications was.

Other items:

Overwhelming stench of sewage when entering the ship.   Sure it was port water and not a ship problem.

Replace "early breakfast" on the Compass with "continental breakfast".  Seemed to confuse some folks.

Have a pre-wrapped sandwich station so people can take a snack back to their cabins.

Double ply toilet paper would be nice, but assume single ply is used to prevent the system from getting plugged up.

Better selection of TV channels.  Noticed that some channels repeated the same shows multiple times during the day.  Sometimes back to back.  Shouldn't be that hard to provide better programming.

Would be nice to have a food station of some sort in the pool area.  Something like a self serve taco, burrito, or burger/hotdog station.

Not allow poolside smoking.  Reminds me of the old 5 foot dividers that Bob Evans had in their restaurants, "what's the point".  All smoking should be confined to the casino (and should not be allowed there), and the muster station deck.

Ships announcements could not be hear in my cabin.

One more thing from a technology standpoint:  have TV interactive account capability.  Most ships have this now.  Would me a very helpful upgrade.

For the most part the cruise was fine.  Cabin noise,  and to a lesser degree, port tours could have better.  But in the end, I will cruise with RCI again,

Other items:

On boarding the ship there was an overwhelming stench of sewage at the port.

Lucked out with weather for a great cruise by rscola2014

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Leaving from Baltimore is a dream since you park within a stones throw of the ship. The cruise director and staff were outstanding in providing continuous options for keeping you busy/entertained if you wanted to participate. The food in the MTD was fine and with the recommendations of the wait staff made decisions easier. The ports were all great with Charleston, Miami and Nassau within walking distance of the ship. We had to skip Coco Cay due to being too windy for the tenders and some shore activities, but spent another day in Nassau. Overall a great cruise. The ship is scheduled for an overhaul which should make it more comfortable and up to date.

The centrum which was a central stage allowed viewing from decks 4-9 for many musical and special events.
