The cruise overall was good. We got
There and back without any issues. We did have discomfort in the quality of the stay which is very comparable to a motel 6 and the lack of a pool and activities for our kids. Each port was a money trap. The locals are so money hungry and price everything very expensive. We will not sail Royal Caribbean with small children again.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
The embarkation process was could be improved. I did the check in on the app for all parties on my booking but on the day of arrival only my pass was viewable on the app. The process to get the other tickets printed was unorganized, and took a long time.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food selection is outstanding. We definitely ate good.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The onboard activities overlapped with dinner times. Also it was a lot of the same activities over and over. The variety of activities needs improvement.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We enjoyed the Bonk show, the dancers and singers were also great.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
This is the source of most of my disappointment. We traveled with two children (1 and 9) and a teen (15). There is no area for the 1 year old to go in the pool. How can you restrict basic amenities usage to paying guest without providing an alternative? We also didn’t know where the kids club was until day 3 and didn’t know there was payed daycare until day 6. We are very dissatisfied with the communication of available activities for
Children. This is not a kid friendly cruise and that should be noted at time
Of reservation.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
There were 12 people on our trip. For some reason, even though we requested to be sat together we were spread out all over the dining room. On day 3 we were able to sit together and our servers Praveen and Sheik were outstanding and making us feel welcome the remainder of the time. These two men, as well as all the wait staff at the buffet work very hard.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship layout and design is terribly outdated. The maintenance on the ship needs to be taken seriously. There are areas where the rail on the top deck has become detached. Also, the nose of the ship is a mess.. like do you not see the camera and the mess of ropes there?
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The rooms in this ship can only be compared to a motel 6 quality. I literally felt like we were staying in the lowest end of the hotels the whole week. The couches are dirty, the brass on the lamps is tarnishes, the shower curtains do not get changed between guests, the bathrooms
Have mold or broken shower walls, furniture is peeling. This was a terrible experience.
Ship tip
Update your ship, update your rooms, update your available service to yo
Everything was incredibly expensive. The locals are ruthless with the prices. We aren’t visiting this place again. Surprisingly it was the best of all the islands we visited.
Surprised we had to ride a boat to get to land which had restrictions for wheelchair guests. Why would they have this option and leave guest behind? Really frustrated with the locals and the prices of excursions.
This was by far the worst. There were 4 boats at this location. It was so crowded, the pool was disgusting. Locals wanted $60 per person to get people to a beach.
Frustrating experience with the traffic coos not letting us pick up the rest of our group where we originally dropped them off under the deck. Had to redirect the baby and the older lady to walk so far it was so inconvenient
Sorry you were disappointed. And welcome to the Caribbean - most islands depend on the cruise industry for survival, especially since Covid. You shouldn’t let that take away from the beauty of the area or its people.
Cruising is not for everyone. Regardless of what line you travel until you book on upscale (Cunard) or boutique lines (Azamara), what you experienced with Royal is pretty much the same as on other mass market lines. Affordable cruising these days requires you to do your own homework and research, long gone are the days of providing you actual books about services and policies prior to boarding.
Sorry you were disappointed. Why didn't you ask about kids activities when on board? Many ports require shuttles and are not suitable for wheelchair guests. You are told this in advance. Did you research any of these ports?
