Sorry. I would have rather have gone to Alaska. The whole experience was fraught with disappointments. Food and service are a huge part of the experience and it was a great disappointment.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Shore crew were very good but began to fall apart when trying to board. Very disjointed and information as to where to go next was lacking.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Dining rooms and cleanliness were very good but food quality and delivery was truly awful at times. A lunch turned into a two hour affair with us just sitting and waiting. When the food did arrive it was sub-par -- cold and not well put together. Food in the high end restaurants was seriously mediocre and generally overcooked. Although the staff tried to correct the errors, the attempts fell flat due to kitchen staff getting into a rush.
The buffet was just scattered, temperatures were uneven and inappropriate for some items. Again, there was no service, the staff were few and far between and hurried. And you need more than one premium coffee bar and preferably not Starbucks.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
All of the facilities were clean and well attended. Deck service was nonexistent.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The music was way too loud and performers were "D" list.
Children's Programs
Not with kids.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Wait staff were not the best, always distant and unreachable with the definite exception of the staff in the high end restaurants.
The room stewards were a shining example of excellence!
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship was an old rust bucket and it showed far more wear than it should have. Layout was OK given the age and neglect.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Room was OK but it would have been preferable to not have the bed in front of the window.
Thank you for taking the time to share your cruise with us. Sorry you did not enjoy it. We will be on the Grandeur in February, hope they get the return to cruising bugs out by then.
