You get what you pay for, and sometimes that's ok. We knew the food would be good, not great. We knew the ship was old and smaller. We had to been to most of the ports before. But we saved enough money to make it worth it.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Leaving from Baltimore was the easiest experience in over a dozen cruises from 5 different ports.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The quality and variety of food at the sit down or buffet was good, but not great.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
As an older ship, it doesn't have the room for activities like the newer ships. Nonetheless, our group of 3 families almost always had some activity to participate in or watch.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We caught a couple dance & music performances, a juggler, hypnotist and comedian. They were all fun and entertaining, except the comedian. I had a few laughs but between the rough seas and wrong demographic for her routine, I could have used that 45 minutes more wisely.
Children's Programs
Our teens didn't participate.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Joe & Amit were great waiters, Lennox our room steward was friendly and attentive, the activities staff Cian, Michael Jackson (not the singer of course), & Shannon made the rainy days more fun.
Ship Quality

At almost 24 years old, the Grandeur of the Seas is nearing her end. All the common areas were clean, but you can see the rust and repairs poking through.
We've been to Nassau 6 or 7 times and this was the first time we took one of the local 'taxi' tours. Except for the time we visited the chocolate factory, this was the best experience and I highly recommend Kevin Thomas Archer if he's available.
Not much near the port, you'll have to take a taxi to get to anything. And finding an Uber or Lyft is not easy on Christmas day. But we still had a good time at Cocoa Beach just down the road.
First time there, can't wait to visit again with more time. 13 of us took a buddy tour and loved it. Walked Market St. and King St., lots of walking. But such amazing charm of the city you don't really notice the distance.
Glad you enjoyed it. Knowing what to expect is the key to having an enjoyable experience. Many seem to book a cruise without doing any research, are disappointed when it doesn’t meet their inflated expectations, then post a review complaining about everything and say “never sailing this cruise line again”. It seems that many people spend more time choosing where they’re going for dinner then researching their vacation.
