Grandeur of the Seas

5 Night Bermuda (Baltimore Roundtrip)

Sail date: October 12, 2019

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

I thought it was a nice cruise. The ship has good staff who try hard. I'll be doing the same itinerary twice next year on Grandeur. If you want a nice short break, it may be for you.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I thought they did well considering they were trying to check in 2,000 people in 2 hours.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

I thought it had good food and, I never had a problem finding a seat. Also, all the Freestyle machines worked.

Onboard Activities

Day Spa and Fitness Center

3 out of 5

I used the fitness center 3 days. I found the sensors didn't work properly on 2 of 3 lifecycles machines. This was annoying.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
My room steward did a excellent job. Also, the concierge and waiting staff in the Diamond Lounge were excellent. After 1 day, they remembered what I drank.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My cabin was kept immaculate by my cabin attendant Aleus.

Ship tip

Don't expect all the bangs and whistles you see on the bigger ships.

Ports of call

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Lots of shops and a nice pub called The Frog and Onion which brews their own beers and ales on site. Warning! It is pricey. Excursion wise, I did the Lighthouse, Pink Sands and Shopping tour. It was nice. You got 45 minutes to shop in Hamilton. You got to see the Gibbs Lighthouse. The tour put us in taxis so, we had a small group and the taxi driver was our guide. He was very knowledgeable.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I think they tried again though there things they couldn't forsee such as just 2 customs officers checking passports. Also, they needed a tugboat to help get the ship to the pier (I saw it).

I've been adding the following comment to reviews: Grandeur will be leaving the RC Fleet Spring 2021. I will miss her since I sail on her quite often. However, have no fear. The Enchantment of the Seas will be replacing her in Baltimore April, 2021. It looks like I'll be sailing out of Baltimore many years to come, God willing.
