Ship: Grandeur of the Seas

Review summary

Dining staff Bayu and Ahkmad were top notch perhaps best ever encountered. You would be a lucky cruiser to have them as your waiters who make main dining room an enjoyable experience.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Although acceptable chairs very close together making seem like cattle call.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining - food high quality, service above many land restaurants, friendly knowledgeable waiter service, Windjammer buffet very crowded but food acceptable.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Although ship was forced to skip Bar Harbor and St. John’s because of unacceptable weather entertainment was both added and continued as if smooth sailing.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Ample for cruise ship but sometimes seemed to be rushing from late dining seating to shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Greatest we have encountered. Helpful in all difficult situations during many changes due to tropical storm.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Acceptable. While being confined to ship much of the time some areas seemed very crowded. Old but well kept.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Small but acceptable, room steward great, friendly but not intrusive and available when needed.b

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts Did not visit port

Much too far for walking.

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
Acceptable. Excursion tour guide tried to be more of a comic than guide.

Bar Harbor, Maine Did not visit port

Skipped due to unacceptable weather.

Saint John, New Brunswick Did not visit port

Skipped due to unacceptable weather.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Great excursion with great knowledgeable tour guide to Peggy’s Cove.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Although very long from arrival to departure seemed organized.

Grandeur was commissioned in 1996 (23 years old). I just found out today that she will be leaving the RC fleet Spring 2021. I will miss her since I sailed her very often (love the Grandeur). No fears, Enchantment of the Seas will be taking her place out of Baltimore. She is also a great ship and will be looking forward to future cruising on Enchantment, God willing.

This ship is only 4 years old. I don't understand ? I am sorry that some of the ports were closed when you got there. Cruise on !
