Review summary

Would we cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas again? You bet! Our over all experience was very good.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation was excellent. My husband required a wheelchair to board the ship so we were taken up a special ramp by one of the port's staff. Good experience to know for any special needs guests.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The dining room cuisine was good with ample choices. The Windjammer café (buffet) was just OK. I personally don't like buffets because the food is never hot enough.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The highlight of our cruise was taking a tour of the ship's Bridge, Galley, Control Center and Laundry. Our tour guide was most informative, as were the staff in each venue that further explained things. The tour was well worth the price of admission ($69).

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We spent most nights in the centrum watching the entertainment. We enjoyed it very much. We skipped the theater this cruise, not because we don't enjoy it, but because there's so much to do and sometimes not time enough for all the venues.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
EVERYONE went overboard (excuse the pun! lol) to make for a pleasant cruise. Our room steward did his job well and was very congenial. All ship's personnel were great.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We've cruised on the Grandeur of the Seas many times. The ship's common areas were well maintained. Getting around the ship was very easy. Unfortunately, the ship is beginning to show her age. Rust could be seen in many areas. (She was built in 1996).

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were in a suite and there was ample space. It was advertised as a two bedroom, two bath suite with a bathtub in one and a shower in the other, but both restrooms had a shower, but that was fine by us because we prefer a shower. However, they need to replace the shower curtains because they were too short and the water kept escaping onto the bathroom floor. It was actually not a two bedroom suite because the master bed was combined with the living area, with only a curtain for some privacy. They should also replace the three chairs in the living area. They were "well worn" and stained. Not what one would expect in a suite.

Ship tip

Over all, the Grandeur is a good ship, though she is beginning to show her age. Would we cruise on her again? Yes, indeed, we would! She's a smaller ship and that's what we prefer.

Ports of call

King's Wharf, Bermuda

4 out of 5
The Royal Dockyard is nice, having restaurants, shopping and some activities (Snorkel Bay, a nice smaller beach, with a fee of $5 to enter, is very nice). There's also a museum and dolphin area where one can swim with the dolphins.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Since we had gold cards and are diamond members, we were able to disembark the ship at 8:00 am. The whole experience was very easy.
