Review summary

Selected this cruise bc it only involved the children missing 1 day of school, Jan 2. Upon departure, they immediately went to school. Also drove to port. Only 45 minutes away. Didn’t have to pay airfare😊 and could bring lots of luggage since we don’t have to pay fees.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Seemed to be understaffed. Only ate breakfast at Windjammer twice but on the last day it did not open at 6. Park Cafe was consistently late in opening late for breakfast. This is very discouraging when you have an early excursion. I have always found it is quantity not quality. Park Cafe selections are not what they use to be. Refuse to use specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Kids loved rock-climbing, fitness center small and crowded. Unfortunately they don’t have much to offer due to limited space. Kids would like basketball, putt-putt and water slides. If you are looking for this-Grandeur is not the ship for you.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedians were good, production shows getting old, salute to vets, first responders, nurses and teachers the best, Quest unorganized need to go back to groups of 8 not sections of the room, and loved Majority Rules. I didn’t play but watched.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
With over 600+ kids on cruise, they were prepared.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I’ll give it 5 stars bc most was like the Concierge, Francis, and our room steward Moses (Reggie not our room steward was always so pleasant and knew our names). Neil Anthony, a server in the concierge lounge would fix your drinks as soon as you entered. Also always acknowledged you when he was working other areas of the ship. We had two different waiters in MTD depending if there were two of us or seven. Service for the two of us excellent. Service when there was seven had a very bumpy start which resulted in all of us walking out. Service problem resolved but still in the process of getting a formal dress cleaned and if it can’t, a claim will be submitted.

Ship Quality

Love the Grandeur and it was my 4th time cruising on her.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 bedroom family grande suite. Great for 4 adults and 3 children (15, 13, 11). Balcony is huge.

Ship tip

Small ship and doesn’t have a lot of activities for children. If you are looking for this, go to a bigger ship. I do live the smaller ship.

Wow I can’t believe there were that many kids on that ship. When I was on it there were only twelve kids. I guess it is the time of year and the itinerary.
