Review summary

Very nice cruise, good food, 9 days is wonderful. Staff was excellent, drinks and photos are well done. Small ship, not as many choices. Bermuda is wonderful, clean, friendly and safer than most American Cities. The roads and driving are insane, but we plan on going back many times to this expensive, but enjoyable port.

Embarkation

It was fast and smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food on Royal is very good with many choices, our only complaint is the more traditional dining the had. We could either eat at 5:30 or 8 pm, choosing the later meant that we ate so much food way to late. Even an either/or option would have been preferable and given us a chance to meet more of our fellow cruisers. The drinks are more juice than drink and while I understand not wanting people to get drunk at 11 + $ a drink, they seemed overpriced. The night club didn't open until 11 and was filled with 18 year-olds, the dance floor was small and really disappointing.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Very small quite ship, not much in the way of activities.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The Elton John show was very good and Scotty Cavanaugh is unbelievable. The ship was seriously lacking in dance floors having only two which were both right in front of the bars crowding an area already to small to dance.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My teens were very concerned that the ship had really nothing to do as opposed to the mega ships we had sailed in the past, but there were a lot of families with teens and instead of doing all the activities on board, they developed a group a friends who ate lunch together, played cards, watched movies and became friends. They said it was the best cruise so far.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was amazing, from our room steward Gama, to our dining staff of Letisha and Gusti the staff was amazing. Dane Whitaker at the pool bar is the man for any drink and worth the wait.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship is kept very beautiful. Our only complaint was a soot or rust that flaked all over our aft cabin. It would cover all our chairs and even stained some of our clothes. Our steward was diligent to clean it up, but he could not. The ship is older, but the design is well though out for moving about. Needs more dance floors and clubs. Ones that open earlier than 11 and are 21 and up.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was awesome, storage is the best and the balcony was big. The only complaint was the soot, otherwise 5 star

Ship tip

Very quite cruise of seniors and families. Traditional in operration with only a few chioces for things to do. We had a good time, but this is not a mega ship. The staff is absolutely the best.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

4 out of 5
No Excursion, easy to get to and seemed to be a local port . The Best Western with the cruise package was an excellent way to go and the transportation of KT Elite was ideal.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
The best port we have ever been to, I would be comfortable walking around alone. Clean, wonderful people. Horseshow Bay was amazing and the watercraft rental service at the dock was incredible. We rented Sea Doos and enjoyed seeing some coves, sea turtles and shipwrecks. Hard on your body,, but so much fun for families with teens.

Nassau, Bahamas

We have been many times and have come to dislike Nassau, it's dirty and you are constantly harassed. Plan an excursion if you go, but should you decide to walk around, wee went to Junkaroo Beach, a 10 minute walk from the ship. It was bigger than we expected and not a bad place to swim. Didn't see any fish, but is was free to get there. Visit Jari's for drinks, he's cool. You will still be bugged and don't leave anything valuable on the beach. The chairs are expensive, but they didn't seem to running the scams they did on Paradise beach. Senior Frog's is fun, but loud. Kay's Fine Jewelers was very nice. 700 liquor store is good for rum.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island) Did not visit port

We had been before, not impressed, it was dirty and someone said it still is. The ship was quite and the pool empty.
