Review summary

The cruise was ok. The reviews I read prior to booking that RC posted on their site did not match what they truly offered. They boosted about a great activity schedule for adults and kids and that is definitely not the case! The cruise director was not around like I have seen on other cruises except for introductions here and there and a few games. This ship seems so dated with the activities and décor so it was extremely disappointing since we had 4.5 days at sea!

Very smooth and organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food in the Great Gatsby for dinner was excellent. I would have liked a bigger selection. The downside to that was the cost of upgrading to a better meal. I felt that it should have been included or at least a lesser cost. The dining in Izumi was incredible!! I would recommend that hands down. The Windjammer had a huge selection for all meals and the food was very tasty! Drinks were overpriced to the max, so if you didn't buy a package you were dropping a pretty penny! Gratuity was added to every drink purchase which I think was ridiculous. I think allowing us to tip our bartenders would be a much better option for us and the bartenders.

Onboard Activities

A total joke!!!! Trivia games every day, very boring; some type of spa talk or tutorial which then led to talking you into a purchase for more money; Bingo which is always fun but was extremely expensive to play, it was between $39-$59 to play, not even a option to buy maybe just one card for $5; lots of shopping talks which were informative but there seemed to be one too many; jewelry and merchandise sales, I do not consider those activities yet they were scheduled as such; The rock climbing wall was fun if you were the first in line, however we went a second day and the crew had no organization at all of the line and people would get off the wall and then go right on again which left many people in line without a turn. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was in this ship after all the great things they said they had to do on board because none of that actually happened.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Performers were great. A nice variety of comedians and singers. the Royal Caribbean singers and dancers were very entertaining and fun to watch!

Children's Programs

the teen center activities also a joke, the schedule was basic to say the least and depending on the crew member present depended on whether or not the teens were allowed to play the activity that the ship had scheduled ( if you don't want the activity to be done then don't put it on your schedule) It seemed that some of the activities were focused on popularity contest for the crew members not for the families and kids ex: the family slime time, sounds like a messy fun time for the kids and families....nope it was all about which crew member should we slime...really??? That was a waste of time and no fun at all.

Service and Staff

Overall I am saying good. My housekeeper was fine in the fact that we did have clean towels and our room made up daily however I did have a book go missing from my room. I have no idea if housekeeping was responsible or if someone else went into my room when they were cleaning it. I just know that it was there when I left in the morning and when I came back later that day to get it to go read poolside it was gone. The waiters and staff were very nice and pretty efficient. I feel that the people who upgraded their meals got a little more service, from what I observed. The staff in Izumi were impeccable. The staff in Windjammer were very nice also.

Ship Quality

The ship is aged and is showing it. They are always cleaning because you see them but it still is showing that it is worn and dated.

Cabin / Stateroom

It was just big enough for 2 of us. Clean and well kept but very noisy. It was an end unit so you heard your neighbor and every footstep in the hall.

Ship tip

Bring something to do!!!!!

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Close to home, parking lot was secure, clean and fast.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Absolutely best port ever!!! Clean, well kept, friendly people. The only downside is the stores close early even on Saturdays so it's not like home where they are open late in the evening. The Wild West Kayak tour was super fun and very informative. The tour guides were awesome! The day at the beach was unbelievable! We snorkeled all day for free, we could kayak or even take out the stand up boards! Worth paying the fee because so much was included!

Nassau, Bahamas

It was okay. Not the cleanest port and a lot of people there to haggle with you for shopping or taking their cabs. The shopping district was great if you had taken the info class prior. The Hard Rock Café was a nice treat, a little pricey but still fun.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

The aqua park was fun and you need to be able to pull yourself up onto the inflatables. Fun none the less! The beach is beautiful. Lots of iguanas and hermit crabs to see on the nature trail. The BBQ lunch was so so.

We were delayed an hour that was the only downfall.
