Review summary

Sadly this would rate as the worst cruise experience I have had to date. The staff was excellent and the friendships made enjoyable but that is where the highlights end. The overall experience was extremely lacking. On the entertainment side the energy level was at an all time low. There were a few instances when the younger cruise manager, as he was called, was given the lead and he was able to bring the party level up closer to what is my normal cruise expectations. Generally on this particular cruise the entertainment was geared toward the most senior cruisers. One of the activity events was actually "Quiet zone". I didn't check it out but I'm guessing it was probably similar to library time where you can sit around and read a book in total silence as was the case in many areas of the ship. The weather didn't help either as it was high winds and overcast for a good portion of the cruise. The most desirable stop, Grand Cayman, had to be eliminated due to rough seas and high winds making tendering impossible. This was another event handled poorly on the ship. Having knowledge the night before that porting wouldn't be possible the crew waited until 10 in the morning when everyone had gather to disembark to announce the change. Even Ladadee couldn't be experienced to its fullest due to the winds and light rain. All in all, had this been my first cruise ever it would have also been my last.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was OK, just your average in quality and lacking in late night snack variety

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Limited and not continuous. This contributed to the boredom due to inclement weather too.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Daytime entertainment lacking , evening shows were average.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Sary as room attendant and Nilesh and Gene in main dining room were excellent. They went above and beyond to help the experience.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Nothing out of the ordinary

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was clean and adequate. My first time in an inside room and will probably be my choice going forward as little time is actually spent in the room.

Ship tip

Bring a book like "War and Peace" you'll have plenty of quiet time to read.

I would rather be safe than sorry about anything happening. Look what happened to the Royal Caribbean ship When it was out at sea some weeks back. That was horrible.

It's disappointing when a ship can't anchor to tender the guest, but it's the Captain who makes this call and also gets in touch with whom ever he needs to speak with in the main office where the company is located.

The quiet zone is not an "activity" it a place for those who want peace and quiet without all the hub-bub of other guests. You know like when all you want to do is read your book and the loud mouth in the lounge chair next to you won't shut up?

How about the quest? Didn't see a lot of seniors there. The shows were kick ass. How about the live and marriage show? There was only one couple of 64 years. The others were 27 years and a week. I think you were pissed because of the weather. My wife and I have booked another cruise on Grandeur next year c

Just high winds for Grand Cayman. It's not the ship alone who determines whether they can go into a port or not. In this case grand Cayman themselves told the ship the port was closed due to high winds. No rough seas at all. In fact no rough seas at all. My wife and I had a blast on this cruise. So events were geared toward seniors huh? What about the sexiest male and belly flop competitions?

Sorry you experienced bad weather but really how is that Royal Caribbean's fault?

was on this ship with my family amity over Thanksgiving to and we had a great time. Three kids were with us ages 12, 14, and 17. They had a a great time as did we. Entertainment was not geared to seniors but to all age groups.

Can't blame the RC for bad weather.
