Review summary

The reason we chose this cruise was out of convenience because we could easily drive to the port of Baltimore.  What we did not realize was that we would be in the minority age bracket for this cruise.  Over 80 percent of passengers on this cruise are between the ages of 70-90 years old.  The reason for this is that most of them are unable to fly due to their aging conditions and the port of Baltimore is convenient to drive or get assistance to the port.  The majority of passengers on this cruise use canes, wheelchairs, walkers, scooters and many of them carry oxygen tanks.  While I applaud them for traveling I caution young-middle age people - you will be in the minority age bracket and all activities on board are geared toward people that are between the ages of 70-90 years old.  This cruise is geared toward aging and disabled people.

I suspect there a combination of factors that can influence the age demographics on a given cruise that range from the size of ship, port, time of year etc. I tend to disregard broad categorizations. I am a firm believer that it is not your surroundings that make you happy or unhappy and that happiness comes from within. Some folks seem to struggle with this but there are techniques to help folks with this. Take a look at this TED talk: https://www.ted.com/talks/shawn_achor_the_happy_secret_to_better_work?

I resent this post...I have used a cane/walker for 20 years, and I'm only 43 years old...we are going on our 5th cruise (3rd from Baltimore) with RCL in July...trust me, I've felt like the minority on all of the cruises with my assistive devices. We have a great time EVERY time and have made lasting friendships with people of ALL ages that we've met from all over the world on our cruises. Your cruise is only as fun and enjoyable as you make it!

One of the reasons there were older passengers is because school is in session & that limits the time that the parents can take them on vacation. We 3 couples prefer to vacation when the Jr. & Sr. High kids are in school because they tend to get rowdy & we don't enjoy that. Try talking to some of us older folks. My husband is one of the funniest & most intertaining people you'll ever encounter!

Yes while it was an older crowd..they were right in the thick of things! My table in the Main Dining Room were all young couples. I guess if you looking for all hours of the night partying...this may not be for you. I would rather be with fun older couples than drunk and obnoxious young ones.

. We cruise because we have money and time. And for the op, old people can fly! Where did you get THAT notion?!

I was also on this cruise, I'm in my mid 30's and me and my wife had a great time, and it is convenient to get to port of Baltimore, but most are NOT 70-90 there's a mix from 20's to 70's and the WW2 vet was probably the oldest at 92 . The majority do not use canes or walker etc, the ww2 vet walked fine for 92. Its all in what you make of it. If you can't have fun on a cruise, maybe you shouldn't be on it no matter the age groups.
