quick and clean; about 45 minutes after exiting airport transfer

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Didn't care for the choices; don't get me wrong, this is a personal opinion. However, I never went hungry or lacked choices. Buffet and Main Dining Room(s) only. Had the drinks package (first time), Skol!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
most of my outdoor activity involved the pool. Music was a reasonable decibel. Big screen showed recent movies, good selection. Days 1-2 and 9-10 were cold outside.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
didn't care for the male soloist in theatre. For the life of me I can't recall the first night comedian. Female singer had back to back nights, probably second night entertainer couldn't make it. Bless her heart! She was great. Saw magician couple in a smaller room (good) but chose to lose at blackjack when they were in the theatre. Words fail me and I can't say enough how much I enjoyed the three production shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Unlike my last cruise (Carnival) I saw my room steward several times a day. He was great.

Strange things amiss. We booked a forward port balcony on deck 12. After the fact we were assigned a forward starboard balcony on deck 14 (Lido) instead. Views were not better but no elevators to get to the action. Turns out the quarantine deck was #12.

Ship tip

take the Medallion phone app with a grain of salt. It mostly worked but I had to delete the app and re-download it twice. Wifi connection worked well. Only had trouble uploading some videos to facebook.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

First night went on a sunset sail. Saw whales when out there. Second day did a snorkel excursion. There were two different excursions. Company chose to combine them. My choice (near Sea Lion colony) was eliminated. none of us were happy about that. My boat almost left with two snorkelers still in the water. Post tour I walked to the beach. Big mistake! Long walk vs $5 water taxi. Can't believe how much skin those twenty something women expose! Sunburn cheeks? Glad I don't have girls.

La Paz, Mexico

Commercial area in port was the highlight. Spending opportunities for both food/drink and chachkeys. Another snorkel tour, sub par. Open skiff for about 45 minutes. Cloudy water off a beach, not many fish. Highlight was circling a light station filled with birds and sea lions. Spent about two hours on a deserted beach where we had lunch. Very relaxing.

Loreto, Mexico

Sort walk to the mercantile tourist shopping. Singers/dancers in plaza. Banos': tips for tp! Did not really stray from coast or shopping area.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Did an afternoon Beach Getaway. Colder temps and high waves; did not go in ocean. Beach "resort" was very nice. loungers/umbrellas included. Infinity pool. Food ($) was good and very reasonably priced. By the time we got back it was time to return to ship.

Disembarkation

Smooth as silk. Bus transfer was much better than taking a cab to LAX.
