Review summary

Did not like what we got the itinerary was horrible. The excursions were overpriced, and not well organized. The ship should be condemned. The ship felt like we were on a floating nursing home and I am not a spring chicken. Wheelchairs, Scooters and walkers everywhere, making it difficult to get to one place to another. Activities were for nursing home residents.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Nothing to do but gamble, and shop limited stores. Activities were boring.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Horrible seating, entertainment was very limited. Have had better on cheaper cruise lines.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
For most part waiters, and room attendants did an excellent job. Rooms are outdated, stained, falling apart.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Tiles, chipping or missing, stained carpets, lights not working, could not see out of the glass due to stain and hard water deposits. Narrow hallways,

Cabin / Stateroom

Have stayed at motels in better condition than the cabin we were in. Balcony room balcony was large but the room was cramped, outdated, filthy stained carpets, sliding glass door almost fell off. Not a nice room at all. I have paid less for rooms on other ships with more room and sitting area with large balcony.

Ship tip

Don't book on Grand Princess for more than seven days. Don't book at all. Princess is acclaimed as top notch cruise line, but my experience has left me soured. I will not book again on Princess Cruise Lines.

Over crowded, to much downtown would have prefer something near a beach.

Nawiliwili, Kauai

4 out of 5
Beautiful, wish we could have strayed longer at least two days to really enjoy.

Lahaina, Maui

4 out of 5
Beautiful, at least here we were closer to the beach, again two days would have been better.

Yep, and watch out! Our Abbie is a mean and crazy stroller driver. She takes corners at .25 MPH!

Good point @dnaoracle! People using wheels at any any age! Tolerance and patience are key on any vacation! 🍸

Bet OP would be bothered by strollers too.... we will be pushing ours around the Grand starting on Monday!!

Some people bask in misery, and are never happy unless they are bitching about something

Exactly, @Dverzic! Anyone who complains about an itinerary of their choosing is either a troll, or really stupid!

Dverzic    6 years ago

I was thinking troll too. I mean, how do you think the itinerary sucks? Was he unaware of where they were going??

majmom96    6 years ago

I think this may be a troll! No cruises listed. 😜

Bothered by wheelchairs and walkers? Just hope you don't need them one day. Instead of complaining about them, maybe you should get a compassion lesson on your next cruise. Didn't like the itinerary? Didn't you look at the cruise details before you booked?

Funny... the excursions and their prices are available for review before you even book, and certainly before final payment..... I agree with the previous comments - you didn't do your homework. Hardly surprising you were disappointed.

We did the Hawaii trip too and really enjoyed it. I thought the inside venues were beautiful. I’m in my fifties too, and although the average age was probably mid sixties it didn’t bother me, as I wasn’t there to hook up. I thought the shows were really good, and there was a variety of activities to participate in. I took line dance classes and uke lessons. My husband isn’t into organized activities but still had a good time. I’ve been on shorter cruises to Mexico with my friends, which were fun, but as this was a cruise for our anniversary I wanted a more upscale experience. Didn’t want to be around a bunch of drunk twenty-somethings twerking and doing hairy chest contests. Different strokes.

I'm 54 and just got off that Hawaii trip on the Grand and loved it. Relaxing, calm hardly any kids, it's an old boat for old people, what did you expect, do your research and have no suprises
