Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining room was excellent with great food and service. Buffet was busy but we could always find a table if we kept walking to the back. The Pub Lunch was free and delicious. The International Cafe had great food. It was hard to find a table to sit and eat though.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were cold but the jacuzzis were warm. Fitness centre always had treadmills available after peak times.

Shuffle Board

5 out of 5

It looked a bit old but we had fun using the shuffle board. It looks like it's hardly ever used.

Lotus Spa

5 out of 5

I had a hot stone massage. Beware of the big sell to buy their expensive products!

Gymnasium

5 out of 5

The gym had plenty of treadmills vacant if using the gym after 10am.

Cybergolf

2 out of 5

Cybergold no longer exists. There is a golf green for putting which looks old and like it's not been used for a while.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment was great. The Princess dancers and singers did a great job and did a variety of performances. Also had a good comedian and magician.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
My 11 year old felt that the kids program was aimed at younger children. At various times they all had to stop what they were doing and join in a group game. My child didn't want to participate so decided to leave. My older 14 year old really enjoyed the Youth Program. He didn't go very often because he had cousins he could play with.

Arcade

1 out of 5

December 2019- it was closed.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward was lovely and our room was always cleaned well. He also was happy to get us extra hangers. Waiters were outstanding. Knew all about the menu. Were excellent with our children.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is showing it's age a bit but it was always clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had two adults and two children (11, 14) in our room. The kids slept in the pull down beds which were put up during the day to give more space. They found the beds comfortable. Our beds were really comfortable. They were in a twin configuration because of the drop down beds. Because we had 4 in our room, we did find we needed more drawer space, however there was a lot of hanging space. We asked our steward for more hangers so that helped. The bathroom was little but had enough space for the 4 of us to put our toiletries. The complimentary shower gel and shampoo/conditioner were good. The balcony had 2 chairs and a table. They looked a bit tired but were structurally good.

Ship tip

Use the jacuzzis, steam room and saunas near the Lotus Spa. They are free to use and are adults only.

Beautiful little town. It was Christmas Day but a lot of the shops were open. They had some pretty little gift/souvenir shops. We did Sea Kayaking with Akaroa Sea Kayaking Safaris. An excellent trip with 2 really experienced and informative guides.

Wellington, New Zealand

5 out of 5
A lovely city. We had shuttle buses that took us into the city. We walked around the city as it's not that big, and saw lots of the sights.

Tauranga, New Zealand

A pretty port. We hired a car through RitePrice Car Rentals. They were really friendly and easy to book online. We drove to Rotorua and went to Te Puia. We had prebooked to see the Cultural Experience which was excellent. Also you can see the Pohutu geyser and the Kiwi bird.

Auckland, New Zealand

5 out of 5
We didn't have a lot of time here because we had to be back on the ship by 2pm. Had a look around the city and went up the Sky Tower which was really good.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy and quick. Staff were friendly. Luggage was found easily.
