I would book with a different cruise line, and I would never go to Coco Cay again. Go to the Islands where you can have a real experience with the locals.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Elevators slow and packed with people. $35 a day to park!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Decent food but overly crowded and not a nice dining experience. Grab a dirty table quick before it’s gone and hope someone comes by and half way cleans it while you lift up your plate of food.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Activities for young people, such as cornhole tournament, ping-pong tournament fill up fast. Same trivia daily, same karaoke deck 11 each night but so crowded it’s hard to get a seat or your name on the list to sing. Comedy show, battle of the sexes not as good as other panies I’ve been on.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Ships layout for the sun deck is taken up by crowded pools. Other cruises I’ve been on they have a guest speaker with the microphone who liven up the crowd playing music and providing entertainment to get the party started such as a “dance competition” and they didn’t really do as much here.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
They seemed friendly enough.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Hallway carpet going to our room was dingy and dirty. Bathrooms smells like an outhouse. Men’s bathroom and woman bathroom are opposite corridors. So when you’re done with the bathroom, you have to find your partner through the crowd because he’s on the opposite end. Poor ship layout.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
King size bed, and two upper singles attached to the ceiling that pulled down. The single bed or 18-year-old slept in sunk in the middle, and there was mold on her pillow. However, I will say our room attendant was super friendly and amazing trying to keep our room clean.
Ship tip
The WiFi is horrible and its expensive. Be sure that everyone in your party has downloaded the app and understands how to communicate through the app and to look up showtimes.
The port was fine. Sign that tells you to go up the left ramp into the parking garage was a little unclear so we had to circle around. Be prepared for a lot of people and packed elevators.
Coco Cay Did not feel like being in the Bahamas. It feels like an amusement park on sand. A lot of little shacks, selling their T-shirts and stuff. No real entertainment except for waterslides and renting equipment for Water
activities. Unfortunately, unfortunately for us it was a little rainy and water was cold. We ate when we got there and the food plentiful and pretty good. Went back to the ship, but there wasn’t a lot going on. Made the best of it. It was about being together anyways.
They make you leave the ship so early. If you take your own luggage off the ship, you’ll need to get up around 6:30 in the morning to grab some breakfast and be off the ship by 7:30. Really, really was not a four day vacation.
Unfortunately, you didn't book on a luxury line or an upgraded experience that would allow you to stay on the ship later and board early and eat better food and have a nicer cabin. This proves that you get what you pay for. It's just the way it is.
Being your first cruise you did not do enough research. 3 day cruises are not the best for the cruise experience. It’s more like a weekend package at the Holiday Inn. They use older ships and cut back on the frills to offer you a cheap price. There are many on-line sites that can help you pick something to fit your expectations.
