Review summary

Overall we really enjoyed CocoCay and Hideaway Beach, but we weren’t sure if it would be as fun with two ships docked. For the stop at Nassau we wished we had booked a better excursion and done so prior to boarding the ship. Onboard entertainment was great!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Free food on the ship was okay. If you want gluten free options they have them but generally take a little longer to get. The pizza from Sorrento’s was a good snack and late night option. We did not try any of the specialty dining. The service in the main dining area was a little slow so if you’re in a hurry definitely go to Windjammer as they have the same options as main dining.

Onboard Activities

We enjoyed the water slides, stand up comedy, game shows, and especially the Taylor Swift tribute the singer at the pub did. The pools were a bit crowded for our liking even in the adult focused areas.

Decor was definitely a little older but it was clean! The shower heads were nice too.

Decor is outdated but we were glad to have a window! Deck 10 is a good spot for getting to pools and windjammer

Ship tip

Book excursions ahead of time. We waited to book for the stop in Nassau and got ripped off with the Sea World Explorer submarine tour. I enjoyed the beginning of the tour on the catamaran but then when we got on the sub we saw about 4 species of fish and that was it. It was hard to see the color of the coral and none of the fish were particularly interesting. The write up says you see coral reefs, sharks, and sea turtles… For Perfect Day at Coco Cay we were the only ship docked. This kind of made most of the island feel deserted which is nice because you can get a spot at any pool, but there wasn’t even music. We bought tickets for Hideaway Beach and we were glad we did! The adults only pool and beach were very nice. Plenty of chairs by the beach but pool seating is a little more limited. I’d be curious to see how crowded it is if there are two ships docked. The pool was split between a rowdier crowd on one end (dancing on the platforms in the pool) and a more relaxing vibe on the other end. For the price, hideaway beach was our best choice of the trip.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

Very touristy and a bit sketchy. I can see why people just go to Atlantis. We did an excursion that was a rip off submarine tour, then walked to Mass at St. Francis Xavier which was nice. We didn’t bother eating because we didn’t do enough research ahead of time to find a restaurant that wasn’t just touristy.

Loved hideaway beach and snorkeling! We were the only ship docked so there was lots of space

What a mess Miami port is! They dump everyone off the ship between 7:30am and 9:30am and then if you aren’t taking an airport shuttle you have to take an overpriced cab or wait extremely long for an Uber. It cost $20 for a cab to take us just to Bayside marketplace. We then sat with everyone else and their luggage at Starbucks…
