Review summary

We had a week between the end of camp and the beginning of school. The kids sail free promotion was an affordable activity for this time frame. They loved it. Without them it would have been an OK trip but the joy on their faces increased our live span by at least a decade.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
So easy with app It took about 15-minutes from shuttle to ship

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food wasn't delicious but it was plentiful. For some reason they couldn't add more of the dime-sized pepperoni to their pizza slice.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Missed most of the non-kid activates because we had to entertain the grandkids ages 5 and 7. They hated the hip hop class.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The four shows were surprisingly good. Nice sets, costumes and the performers were great singers, dancers and skaters. Twice we were able to get greats seats right at show time. Twice we waited about half and hour and we were first row center. They allow non-flash photos so I was able to capture great pictures.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
The kids preferred to spend their time at the pool (and the restaurants)

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
They were all friendly and helpful. The Windjammer attendant made hygiene enjoyable.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I was impressed that they converted the Freedom to a mini Allure.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was cramped due to the open sofa bed but we managed.

Ship tip

Get (and use) the app but be aware that you won't get the compete day's activities until you actually set sail.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

We live in Broward County. They have done a wonderful job updating the port facilities (a never-ending task). The view of Miami from the ship is gorgeous. The vessel had to go west towards the city in order to make a U-turn. Great photo opportunities.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

4 out of 5
The kids loved the splash area, pirate ship, beach and pool. Too bad they charge so much for the active part of the island. I thought the pirate show was a kids activity but it was a singing duet. They weren't bad but it wasn't what I anticipated.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Straw market. Check. Alcohol. Check. Pirate museum and excursions were pricy and the girls were a little too young for tours.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Facial recognition speeds up immigration control but we couldn't use it since the girls presented birth certificates.
