Freedom of the Seas

4 Night Bahamas & Perfect Day (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: February 21, 2022

Ship: Freedom of the Seas

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Review summary

We'll only cruise RC again if they fix their prepay gratuities system, add physical gift cards in stores on the mainland, and if they work on their food quality in the Windjammer.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and easy especially since hubby was a key program holder.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Chops and Giovanni's was awesome, but didn't get to experience the teppanyaki because of the upcharge pp. Windjammer was fair except for their watery scrambled eggs. Hubby wasn't impressed with the steak or the "colossal shrimp" at his complimentary embarkation lunch or his steak at the disembarkation breakfast.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
They were okay. Not much for onboard activities to speak of.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ice show was awesome. That was the only time that we actually saw the CD in person.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward, Bernardo Peji, rocked. The waiters were excellent. Guest services did what they could about trying to find our prepaid gratuities even though it wasn't in their system so we ended up paying double gratuities.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
AC wasn't working properly, bed was too hard, felt the ship motions abit more than was to our liking, and was close to the service elevators.

Ship tip

Triple check on your prepaid gratuities, ask for extension cords, and a box fan maybe required to cool down if you're in an interior room. Never sign up for a guaranteed cabin, pick it out yourself.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

Miami, Florida

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Food/drinks was subpar and I wasn't allowed to keep my sand.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy.

So they let you take 60percent out for the tips? Did they give you any problem?

We never had a guarantee cabin deal, always pick our cabin location. We had a problem once with the prepaid gratuities but got to resolved pretty quickly.

In addition, they do need to step up their game at the Windjammer.

We usually remove about 60% of gratuities during the last night. Then, we give some cash to those who especially deserved it.
