Review summary

This was our 2nd Honeymoon and it was all I expected and more! If you want to be busy there is plenty to do. If you want to chill and relax there was plenty of space and time for that too!

Embarkation

We arrived very early and was surprised how quickly we were checked in and on the ship! We were having lunch in the Windjammer by noon!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Let me start with the Specialty Restaurants they are totally worth the extra money!!! The service and quality of food is over the top! We did a 5 night package and ate at Chop's Grille twice, Giovanni's once, and at Sabor twice. We only ended up eating in the Main Dining Room once during our trip. The food was okay but the Service was lacking. I think it was because we did My Time Dining and we did an awkward in between time of 7:30 pm and the normal dining options are at 6 and 8pm. We felt a little rushed and disconnected from that wait staff. We ate in Windjammer every morning and in the afternoon during cruising days. The food was well prepared, always fresh, great selection, and they were very attentive to getting tables cleaned up and ready for the next guest. My only suggestion would that they have a little more kid friendly items on buffet other than the hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries everyday. They would be successful with some chicken fingers, mac and cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, applesauce, chips. They did a great job with fruit and veggies.

Chop's Grille

The food was phenomenal! Andri our waiter both times was amazing. The ambiance was beautiful also being water side!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was ALWAYS something to do. You could never be bored on this ship! We did Bingo, the Silent Disco (super fun and should be experienced), trivia at Schooners. We watched several amazing shows Broadway style, Ice Show, Once Upon a Time. The evening comedians were hilarious. We took part in the Love and Marriage game, and The Quest. Both were super fun. We watched the fun poolside with dance classes, belly flop contests, sexiest man contest, officers vs. guest water volleyball match. They even played the Semi and Finals of the NCAA Mens basketball on the big screen for all of us UofM fans onboard. And there was alot of us!

Entertainment

Every show we went to we were entertained and delighted!

Children's Programs

We did not bring our kids on this cruise this time.

Ship Quality

The major gathering areas were all very clean and maintained. Our room was always spotless. Waitstaff kept dining areas and the pool area very mess free! My only things i was disappointed with was our room was on floor 2 and there was no way to walk from the front to the back of the ship straight through on this floor. So if we took the wrong elevators down we ended up having to go back up 2 floors and walking to the other end to go back down. Also the carpet in the hallways needs to be replaced. It did not smell just looked very stained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Just enough for two people. Don't think I could of survived having the 2 kids with us in one room of this size though. Our room steward Keni was amazing. I called her the cleaning ninja. We would only be gone to eat lunch or something and we would come back to a clean room.

Ship tip

If you go during normal vacation times (spring break, xmas, thanksgiving, mid-winter break) and the ship is full, just be sure to get to everything early so you can get good spots (at the pool, shows, activities, even at private island). I don't see this being an issue during non peak times.

Ports of call

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Beautiful! We did the catamaran snorkel and sail through RCL. It was fun and great!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

This is one of our favorite islands in the caribbean. It was really sad to see how much damage the island has sustained. They have a long ways to go, but the beaches were just as beautiful as they were before!! Literally on the of best beaches in the world!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
Our shore excursion (Hike through the rainforest) was cancelled due to the park not being open yet. We were only able to walk through Old San Juan. It was something I was glad I got to experience but I would not want to vacation there. We only had a half day stop at this port or we would of taken a taxi to a prettier part. The architecture was beautiful! The people were vibrant and fun! The food was great! The only thing is driving is absolutely insane, roads are horrible, and there is alot of garbage everywhere. When we visit again while cruising we will hopefully get to do that rainforest tour or an outdoors excursion to a prettier part of the island.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

I really didn't expect much from this port as I knew going in that it was owned and built by RC. I was pleasantly surprised! The accomodations were wonderful, from beach side chair rentals, hammocks in the shade, old wooden row boats turned into lounge couches, to private cabanas ($$$). It was well spreadout with 3 or 4 different beach areas. The food was great (bbq style with potato salad, coleslaw, mac n cheese). If you purchase the drink package all of your drinks at this port is included which helps save on addl spending. I loved the flea market, my husband hated it. I do well with bargaining and high pressure sales so it was right up my alley and I found some wonderful gifts for the family. If you do not like this atmosphere I would stay clear of this area. There was an enclosed marketplace that had similar items for sale but they were not pressuring you to buy anything there, nor were they willing to bargain on the sales price. I went back and forth on 4 or 5 stars on this review because I loved the beaches, food, drinks, and flea market, but the activities/excursions were exorbitantly priced. It was ridiculous how much they were charging for 30 second roller coaster ride, or 30 second zip line. Even the adult beach break was overpriced.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It was a bit of a wait to get off because they really don't check to make sure that each person has the corresponding disembarkation number that has been called. But all of our luggage was in the appropriate area, the porter was very helpful getting our luggage to our shuttle.
