Review summary

We spent the last week on the Freedom of the Seas in the eastern caribbean. We loved the ship but were VERY disappointed with the food on board. Also, due to rough seas, we were not able to stop at Coco Cay which is not the fault of RCCL but we do think they could have substituted another port like San Juan. This was a 7 day cruise which now left only St Thomas and St Martin on the itinerary. 4 days at sea in my opinion is too many.

Food and Dining

My wife and I were VERY disappointed with the food onboard. We ordered 3 different chicken dishes and all 3 were just a chicken tender patty with a different sauce on top. All of the soups we tried had no flavor or were loaded up with lots of salt. We had the crab cake appetizer on a few different nights and each night it was different and didn't taste like real crab. Desserts were not very good either. There was never a fluffy chocolate cake offered and the creme brûlée was not very creamy. We avoided the Windjammer after our first experience there. Again, food had NO flavor and we felt like a herd of cattle going through there. Sorry, not good..... Probably the best meal we had the entire week was a burger from Johnny Rockets, absolutely awesome! When we were on Carnival, they had fillets and lobster tails on a few different nights but with RCCL, the fillet was additional and the lobster tail was offered only on 1 night. Overall, we loved the Freedom of the Sea's but will probably try another cruise line for our next cruise solely because of the food.

That would be great if they could just pull in anywhere. But they cant. Other ships have scheduled trips there, and it is up to local port authorities to approve they have room, and personnel to support a large ship. Glad you made the best of it!
